How will President Obama deploy his Internet army?
| WASHINGTON
Campaign manager David Plouffe, in a mass e-mail sent Wednesday to former workers, asked how much time they can spare for four missions integral to Obama's effort to transform his victory into a broader political movement.
The volunteers' options are, Plouffe wrote: Campaign for progressive state and local candidates Undertake grassroots local efforts to advance Obama's agenda
Train others in Obama's organizing techniques
Focus on local political issues.
"Obama's building a political machine," said Stephen Hess, a presidential scholar at the Brookings Institution, a center-left Washington research group.
"These people have just opened up a new world for politics," added Hess, the author of "What Do We Do Now?: A Workbook for the President-Elect."
Pre-Internet presidents, he said, lacked the ability to communicate in real time with masses of their volunteers. In addition, the social networks such as MySpace and Facebook that link Obama's army together didn't exist.
The net effect was that pre-Obama political machines grew out of local politics and remained rooted there. Statewide or presidential candidates relied largely on local leaders' support.
Not so Obama, who, at least for now, has the allegiance of thousands of volunteers in most if not all congressional districts.
"Your hard work built this movement," Plouffe wrote them. "Now it's up to you to decide how we move forward."

Screwing over American people and recruiting them with lies is fun and rewarding for these b@st@rds. Tempting them, trapping them, extorting them... ah, what an organizing method indeed...
I made a vow to not touch a US citizen, but if I find an illegal asking me to help Obama, he’s fair game... because I can play the damn game too.
Probably this is posted on FR, didn’t look. Different article dated November 5th, 2008. It goes into more detail.

“We really know who Obama’s community leaders are,” issue by issue, said Thomas Gensemer, the managing director of Blue State Digital, the Washington-based mobilizer of online communities created by four Dean campaign veterans.
Instead of e-mailing members of Congress, Gensemer continued, Obama’s most effective supporters will meet with them in their district offices and press them at local town hall meetings.
Trippi offered a more dramatic scenario: “Obama will be able to say these are the 10 members of Congress standing in our way on health care. Basically, it’ll be the president and the people united, with some members of Congress in between, which won’t be a very comfortable place to be.”
A million Obama activists nationwide translate to an average of nearly 2,300 for each of 435 congressional districts. “And if someone in my district had a list of them with e-mail addresses and a lot of good will, I’d pay a lot of attention to them,” said Scott Lilly, a senior staffer for Democrats in the House of Representatives for nearly 30 years.
No they are not. At least the ones who have already volunteered are not. I know some of these people. The have a Messianic fervor that you have to witness to believe. They will do this thing.
Could you imagine any conservative or republican saying or implimenting these things? And here we sit and wait!
Why does this creep me out? Its sooo,,,,, 1934 germany/ussr.
“His followers are probably way too lazy to keep this up.

-I hate to disagree with you on this but I think MartinStyles is right. The objective was to elect a black hope and change type to say, “We did it.” Now, they want their hope and change like he promised with whipped cream and a cherry on top. He has already hinted that it’s not coming in the “tame expectations” language that come out on Thursday of this week. The most motivated among the Obama folks were the furthest left. They are already grousing about Hillary being SOS, Gates staying at DOD, Emmanuel, Richardson, continuing the war presence etc. etc.
By February, these folks will be saying Obama can go F*** himself as they hit the unemployment rolls. The donations are drying up. The interest is already beginning to wane and the biggest problem with Obama’s campaign is already starting to emerge: Assembling voters based purely on patronage, radical leftism and entitlement makes for an angry mob when you screw them and don’t deliver. Obama has one consistency. He leaves as quickly as he gets folks to believe in his Dream and when he’s done using you, he has a hard time remembering your name.
The pitchforks and torches will be circling the White House by Summer 2009. There’ll be no grassroots re-education in the old town tonight.
“You can bet the farm that the 3M Obama-minions will be excoriating The Honorable Clarence Thomas on Dec 5.”
They’ve already started at DU.
