It is a sad day when Americans are so stupid they’d actually vote for a moron like Franken-—it shouldn’t even be close, but face it, half the country was duped. I just pray we can survive this without too much more damage. God help us!

don’t move — Franken is a contemptible jackal but that does not distinguish him from dozens of other US Senators.

In a body in which Robert Byrd, Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, John Kerry, et al are considered the most distinguished leaders, the addition of Al Franken can hardly dilute the talent pool

-- The 3 ringed circus that is to soon be our federal government ... --

"Soon to be?" You should watch more C-SPAN. Congress has been a 3-ring circus for years. Having Franken in there might be an improvement as far as entertainment value goes. Congress is useless anyway, it punts hot issues to administrative agencies or the Courts, and pretty much has its legislation written for it by the administrative agencies and the administration. Congressmen are to lawmaking what news-readers are to journalism ... nothing more than the faces that read the scripts put in front of them.

“”When it’s all over Franken will be ahead by something like 550 votes.””

Wow, I can’t believe the climate/malaise on the board tonight! While your prophecy may come true (I pray it won’t) - we all know Coleman won this election fair and square, originally. If Franken ends up as the winner, it will be an absolute Travesty.

I am ashamed of my party after this debacle. It seems he is left out on his own. Saxby down in Georgia is hanging on by a thread too and Obama is going to town for Jim Martin. And with McConnell saying he was looking forward to President Bush leaving office...

Why do I feel so alone? I mean I know you guys are here, but I really feel like we are just wagging in the wind.

LOL, it’s amazing how the rats can steal an election so brazenly (EVERY adjustment favors the rat) and the worthless FBI just sits around and plays with itself. America is dead and gone.

“”I don’t think Franken will catch up.””

I’ve seen a lot of word today saying the same, that Coleman is the winner, even though it’s by a really slim margin. But I think they also said Franken et al will demand ANOTHER recount.

Didn't some third party independent guy get enough votes to make this close? Anyway, what is amazing is that if the MN Republicans had dragged another 1000 or so to the polls that day who had not voted, the balance in the Senate and the future of our security through check and balance would not be in jeopardy. 1000, or maybe even 200. Amazing. When we see that mushroom cloud someday over the Obama regime, we can look back and just shake our heads...before they fall off from the nuclear wind that is

Missing ballots? Nationwide that amounts to 4,000,000 less Republican voters this election cycle, than in 2004. Par for the course.

I heard someone on H&C on Fox tonight say that Minneapolis had not finished counting their votes yet. This is very bad news for Coleman. Minneapolis is pulling the same scam that the Mayor of Gary, Indiana did during the Dem. primaries. They are holding their votes until they find out how many they need for Franken.

You are so right!

64% of the vote counted and the lead is 120 where it was 215 with area's more favorable to Coleman yet to count.

Even if it goes at the same rate Coleman would still be ahead by 80 or so votes.

I expect Coleman to win.

“”Coleman is as rino as they come.””

Again, it’s like the McCain thing. But have you listened to idiot Al Franken???

So many, many fellow conservatives (I’m one) talk about “next time” when/if the GOP learns their lesson (which I agree they very much needed to learn before 11/4).

Whenever I hear this argument, though, I shake my head in sorrow, because with BHO as POTUS and (God forbid) a bullet-proof Democrat congress and senate, there may not BE a “next time” or second chance.

I’m SO convinced that we GOP/conservatives needed to put country first and ideology/politics second when facing SUCH a dangerous threat to this country in BHO and the radical Far Left. There’s absolutely no satisfaction in saying the outcome of this election will “teach conservatives/Republicans a lesson”. The situation is far more serious than that, and the “lesson” could well be a fatal one for this once great nation.

Oh I agree that the government is already a laughing stock (tragically so). I guess I was just giving the executive branch the benefit of the doubt as not being one of the 3 rings...yet.

“”the addition of Al Franken can hardly dilute the talent pool””

It’s about SO much more than that - pray it won’t happen. It would be the 59th Senate seat, one away from the magic 60 filibuster-proof Democrat-controlled Senate.

What is the statistical likelihood that so many high-profile races can finish by such close margins? Bush/Gore, Coleman/Franken, Gregoire/Rossi, etc. Someone is finagling the votes.

Why are you assuming Coleman will lose? With 64% counted (recounted) the statistics show Coleman's lead will stay. Franken would need to outperform the first 64% already counted (and that seems to have been in DEM solid places already, with GOP coming in later).

The likelihood of close races in a lot of these cases is very good. Two of the three you mentioned, Gregoire/Rossi and Coleman/Franken are in heavy Democratic states where it is good that the Republican can compete.

Also Bush won in that contest and I believe Coleman is going to win this one.

As to the Gregoire/Rossi race, that was bogus they way Gregoire won.

But the answer to your question is that there is no violation of statistical principals/probablities with those three races.
