In a 07 radio interview Obama promises that one of his first acts as president is going to be to call in his new Attorney General to review every single executive order and if they can find that any laws were broken, accountability would be his Attorney General’s job. These show trials and sham investigations are not about getting ‘justice’ or even people in jail. Its about destroying reputations and rewriting the history books. The liberal Democrats want to make Bush as unpopular as Nixon or Hoover, and it will be good for 30 years of hatred and venom towards the Republicans.
That is why it will be our job to truthfully defend Bush’s honor, patriotism, leaderhsip, and integrity from here on out.

You can really go back to the Nixon years. They trashed a SC nominee, Clement Haynesworth, a fine well-qualified judge, because they found an old real estate deed he had that had a race covenant in the fine print from thirty years back or something. This was in Virginia I believe, from back when such things were a matter of course.
Nixon was so mad he tried to ram G Harold Carswell down their throats but that really didn't work. Carswell was attacked, probably justifiably as "mediocre," which led to one of Americas's great political moments. Roman Hruska, senator from Nebraska, defending Carswell, said, "Even if he is mediocre, there are a lot of mediocre judges and people and lawyers. They are entitled to a little representation, aren't they?" .
