City Councilor Chuck Turner has been set free on $50,000 bond after facing charges in a Worcester federal court today alleging he accepted a $1,000 cash bribe to help secure a liquor license for a Roxbury nightclub.
Turner had no questions as federal Magistrate Judge Timothy Hillman presided over the proceedings before a packed court of supporters of the Roxbury politician.
"We love you. Yes we do," shouted one supporter at the close of the brief session.
Turner’s arrest is in connection with the expanding federal case against disgraced state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson, who was indicted this week on charges that she accepted $23,500 in cash bribes to help the Dejavu club secure the same liquor license, which was to be located in Turner and Wilkerson’s districts.
I guess we have to make that 91% now!
From what I hear he actually belongs to Green party, but regardless, he is no Republican./
