Sorry, Cindy, but where is Ernest? He usually PINGS! me to these threads! I haven't heard from him since the election, so I'm a bit worried.

Unfortunately, these stories are much too common in Pakistan. Pakis place not much value on women OR education-—that's from our former Paki exchange student.

I am currently reading “Three cups of tea” which is about an American climber turned charitable activist for schools in the mountainous area in Pakistan. It discuss the educational problems in the area from both the government, and the extremist Muslims. Fortunately most of the Muslims in the area are pro schools for girls but the ones who aren't can create a lot of problems. I'll have to look this area up..I bet this guy who is still building schools is pretty worried right now.
