No specifics on the how and why, but since party orthodoxys already firmly hawkish, pro-life, anti-gay marriage, and anti-amnesty (among the grassroots, at least, on that last one), presumably what were talking about here is spending and bailout backlash. Shouldnt be a problem: The One will give the GOPs congressional minority plenty to dislike, including a bailout of the Big Three to pound the table about. No?
The House, at least, is heading right:
Pence, who was unanimously voted in as the Republican Conference Chairman on Wednesday, told CNSNews.com that conservatism is the current trend among House Republicans.
What I saw today in the Republican conference was an affirmation that the way back for the Republican Party is a return to timeless principles, Pence told CNSNews.com. My unanimous selection was not so much an affirmation of me as a person, but my conservative principles.
Both Mica and Flake also told CNSNews.com that the conference is experiencing a shift towards the right. Sure, Flake told CNSNews.com when asked if there had been a shift. Fiscal conservatives have more of a voice here now.

What does the Republican Party stand for anymore.
Seems like the time is right for a new party that stands for American sovereignty, Minimal Federal government with the agenda of a massive rollback of Federal power and upholding and defending the Constitution.
Thats it period.
No Congressman. Your job is to defend the Constitution and to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. That's what you swore to do, no matter how "partisan" that may seem to anyone.
it’s more than 59%
they are asking New Hampshire GOP primary voters sounds like
Bookmarked. Thanx.
That’s the understatement of the year! Get back to Conservatism and the bad jokes in DC need to understand that they need to stand up for less Government and NO MORE BAILOUTS.
“Gallup: 59% of Republicans want GOP to become more conservative”
Bullcrap, I Demand Conservatism....It’s not something that “I want”. Conservatism is not a gift from Santa.
GOP goes Rino, GOP looses.
"When the new Congress convenes in January, our nation will still be faced with economic turmoil at home and challenges abroad. We need leadership not partisanship in Washington. Our role as Republicans is to work with the new President where we can find common ground. It is also our role to serve as a check and balance on the excesses of the Obama-Pelosi team in Washington.
He is right that you work with the President when it is the best for the Country but you also fight what is wrong for the Country and that is exactly what he said.
As usual lately, Republicans define themselves by Barack Obama. He's their new plumb line.
How's that working for you?
Competent conservatism will win the day. Reagan was able to appeal to a wider audience because he presented a viable alternative to the dems in a competent and non-polarizing fashion while never abandoning conservative principles.
