Over the past two weeks the outpouring of British newspaper, radio, and television punditry has been staggering in volume. Staggering in variety? No. One theme that seems to obsess British journalists has been a grim, humorless regurgitation of the most negative aspects of American history.
My very left-wing friends may have complained that they lived in a police state under the present administration, but the fact that President Bush has not declared martial law, or that police and army did not deploy to massacre the crowds in Grant Park on election night, puts paid to any notion that the United States of America is a repressive, racist dump. I reject the headlines in the British newspapers proclaiming that Americas image has been restored and that the United States is now back in the civilized world. How dare they? ...

Misery loves company!
By my rough count: Jackson, Van Buren, Fillmore, Lincoln, Johnson, Grant, Garfield, Harrison, McKinley, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, Truman, Eisenhower, Johnson, Nixon, Reagan, Clinton, and now Obama (who had things much easier materially than many of his predecessors.)
This doesn't seem to indicate that only people from wealthy backgrounds can get ahead in America.
Oddly enough, the Chicago Police Department has a more notable history of beating leftists in Grant Park than does the Bush Administration.
So, I guess when Zero doesn’t dismantle Homeland Security, the libtards will have to blame...?...

OK Bush’s dad was the head of the CIA, when he ran a small oil business in Texas, with about 23 employees, and lived in a modest low end middle calss house, no comparision to the one the O lives in.
He did get a Harvard MBA, which is a light year better than a JD.
For that matter Washington did not grow up wealthy. He was associated with and married into wealth, but was not wealthy during his childhood.
