When I was in college (engineering) during the 70’s, there were a number of students from west African countries, including Nigeria. They did not look too kindly on the American ghetto “culture”. When one of the pupils (I won’t call him a student) ran into one of the Nigerian students at the NJIT campus and tried to impress him with some jive, the Nigerian expressed his disdain in perfect British Colonial English.

I’m reserving comment until we are certain this story is true.

I myself grew up in a town where this type of goings-on was typical. I’ve been in her shoes, though I myself was never beaten up. However, the Ashley Todd story is still fresh, and I found a couple of different versions of this story. If this one is true, I hope they catch and punish the, uh, “ladies” (using the term loosely) who are responsible.
