The founder of SOA Watch, Father Roy Bourgeois is being excommunicated from the Catholic Church.
The Maryknoll brother tells News 3 he's been notified by the Vatican that the excommunication is taking place because he recently participated in a ceremony ordaining a woman priest.
He says he's not sorry for what he did, and feels it was morally right.
“I have a deep love for my church. I have been a minister for 36 years but at the same time there's what we call conscience that is very sacred, Bourgeois said.
Bourgeois says he has 30 days to recant his actions in order to remain a priest.
He says he will send a letter to the Vatican telling them he will not recant.

I had to look up SOA Watch. It’s the liberation theology (i.e. marxist) fruitcakes who want to close down the School of the Americas.
The Maryknolls have been into Liberation Theology, and the 'preferential option for the poor' for years. I guess this priest just absorbed it more than others, along with all the other liberal and feminist carp floating around, and decided HIS feelings were more important than the 2000 year old teachings of Christ and the Church.
We knew a Maryknoll priest, many years ago, who moved to Dalonegha (sp?), GA. Is that where this man is from?

The School of the Americas is a place where Latin American troops and police were trained by the US military. It has been renamed.
The theory of folks who are into Liberation Theology and other lefists was that it was an imperialist plot to kill off all those righteous leftist revolutionaries down there and oppress the natives.
