TODAY IS TUESDAY 11/18/2008
THERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT THINGS GOING ON IN THE INDUSTRY. I KNOW THE FOLLOWING IS WORDY BUT READING IT MAY HELP YOU DECIDE WHETHER TO BUY NOW.
OKAY - HERE IS THE DEAL
LAST WEEK WE SOLD OUT VIRTUALLY TO THE BARE WALLS. WE HAD A TON OF INVENTORY LAID IN AND STOCKPILED IN ANTICIPATION OF THE PANIC BUYING THAT WOULD BE CREATED BY THE ELECTION. IT SIMPLY WAS NOT ENOUGH. IF IT SHOOTS OR HOLDS ROUNDS OF AMMO IT PRETTY MUCH LEFT HERE LAST WEEK.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT.
AROUND WEDNESDAY OF LAST WEEK WE CHANGED OUR FOCUS FROM SELLING, TO TRYING TO BEG, BUY AND SCROUNGE ANYTHING WE COULD PURCHASE. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT. MOST OF THE INDUSTRY IS EITHER OUT OF SEMI-AUTO FIREARMS, MAGS, AND AMMO, OR THEY HAVE PUSHED THE PRICE WAY UP IN ORDER TO SLOW SALES AND KEEP FROM BEING WHERE WE BASICALLY ARE NOW. SOLD OUT TO THE BARE WALLS. THE LARGEST IMPORTER IN THE COUNTRY AS OF LAST MONDAY HAS SUSPENDED SALES OF ALL OF THEIR HI-CAPACITY MAGAZINES AND RAISED PRICES ON ENTIRE CLASSES OF FIREARMS BY 25% TO 40% ACROSS THE BOARD. THE PRICE INCREASE IS REALLY IRREVALENT HOWEVER AS THEY HAVE NO AVAILABLE QUANTITIES ON ANY OF THESE FIREARMS.
LET ME GIVE YOU SOME PERSPECTIVE.
IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF THIS YEAR, ( JULY THRU OCTOBER ) WE SOLD THE FOLLOWING
7.62X39 AMMO................361 CASES
AK 30 RD MAGS.....................................783
AK RIFLES (ALL TYPES ) .........................243
BY COMPARISON, IN THE 10 DAYS SINCE THE ELECTION WE HAVE SOLD
7.62X39 AMMO................1218 CASES
AK 30 RD MAGS.....................................3855
AK RIFLES (ALL TYPES ) .........................572
THAT IS IN ADDITION TO THE AR RIFLES, GOLANI RIFLES, TANTALS, AND OTHER FIREARMS THAT HAVE ALSO SOLD LIKE WILDFIRE.
SOME OF OUR LARGER DEALER CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO PLACE ORDERS FOR HUNDREDS OF FIREARMS WITH US WHEN WE ONLY HAD DOZENS IN STOCK.
WE ARE VERY SMALL AND THESE ARE HUGE NUMBERS FOR US. WE WOULD HAVE SOLD MORE TOO EXCEPT WE SIMPLY COULD NOT ANSWER ALL THE CALLS, AND THEN WE SOLD OUT.
THE GOOD NEWS IS WE HAVE HAD SOME SUCCESS IN BUYING. WE PURCHASED PRODUCT ANYWHERE WE COULD FIND IT WITHOUT MUCH REGARD FOR THE PRICE. IT WAS ALL WE KNEW TO DO. IT WAS EITHER THAT OR BE SOLD OUT AND CLOSE THE DOORS.
WE ARE POSTING BELOW THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE AVAILABLE FOR SALE. SOME OTHER ITEMS WILL BE COMING ON BOARD OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS AND WE WILL POST THEM UP AS THEY ARRIVE. THE PRICES ARE HIGHER . I CAN'T APOLIGIZE FOR THAT. IN MOST CASES WE ARE PAYING MORE AND MAKING LESS. IF YOU NEED THESE ITEMS AND CAN FIND THEM FOR LESS ELSEWHERE, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO GET THEM.
I HOPE AGAINST HOPE THAT THIS MARKET WILL LEVEL BACK OUT SOON, BUT WITH BANS AND RESTCTIONS BEING ONE OF THE PRIMARY STATED GOALS OF THIS NEW ADMINISTRATIONS I JUST DON'T SEE IT HAPPENING.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.
I don’t reload, and I don’t have the arsenal i desire, so if I want it, i’lll have to pay top dollar.
I’m finally at the point I can do something baout it, and everything is either gone, or way expensive. There have been dozens of news articles in my blue state, and almost as many TV news stories. Stock is gone in the weapon I want to obtain.
watchu looking for? the nice thing about a recession in MI is no one has money to buy anything so the dealers end up with stock sitting. :)
Thanks for the post, I hadn’t seen ammoman before.
It is a moral imperative to not “cooperate with intrinsic evil”, as supporting anything 0bama constitutes.
Folks need to look into legal tax reduction strategies - believe me, you can do more, to reduce the amount that they are funding evil.
The most evil thing that I’ve recently come across is China declaring that it has carbon credits to sell due to its abortion policies. IE, you and I will be paying them with our wealth because they force abortions and sterilization.
I’ve been to two shows in the last two weeks. I don’t need any articles or news to tell me people are scared. When I see people lined up down the aisle to pay 50% more than usual for AK’s and AR’s and ammo that tells me all I need to know.
Nobody with a brain trust Obama or the Dems.
Here in the Loony Left Mecca of Oregon, where there are a surprising number of gun people outside of the Portland/Eugene corridor of liberal nuts, I went to the Salem gun show on Saturday, November 15th, and there was NO Ammuntion remaining for sale, NONE. All the usual ammo vendors were completely out of cheap ammo like Wolf, S&B, etc.. Also, there was a decent supply of cheap AK’s, but No AR’s, M1A’S, Sig 556’s etc... Everyone has sold out of there current supply and have a bunch of guns on backorder. I am going to the Portland gun show this weekend to check out how bad it’s getting.
I believe the people, myself included, who are out buying additional firearms are playing it smart, and most are not “panic buying” per se. We went down this road with Bill Clinton in 1994, so we have some experience with Democrats and guns. If Obama and the Democrats in Congress make any move, that will no doubt be very well publicized, to reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban, or impose new taxes on Ammo or restrictions on firearms, it will cause an even bigger gun purchase craze and result in gun prices going through the roof. I’d say it’s even money that the Democrats will at least attempt some new form of gun laws.
However, if no new gun laws are pursued, firearms unless they are very badly abused, are really a good store of value and the liklihood of breaking even or making a few bucks on resale in a few years is actually very good. They are a far safer investment than stocks in the short term right now.
I am betting on new gun laws, so I am stocking up. If you money to spend, buy guns. If no new gun laws are passed, you can re-sell it in a few years at break even, if a bunch a new gun laws are passed, the God help us all.
You have it right but you might want to get some reloading equipment and learn how to use it in case resrictions on ammo become reality. Its also not a bad idea and lots of fun to get at least one black powder revolver and a supply of materials as a backup.
The two gun shops I frequent have been selling everything like there was no tomorrow. One said that October and November have been their busiest 2 months in their 52 year history.
On-line ammo suppliers are also experiencing shortages. Midway USA and Sportsman’s Guide both have ammo on backorder.
On the contrary ...
Anybody with a brain knows absolutely that he can trust the 'Rats ...
...
...
to be 'Rats.
They're demagogues, gun-control freaks, abortionists, moral reprobates, communists, terrorist appeasers, racists, and generally enemies of these United States. They make no real effort to hide their proclivities, and they can be trusted to pursue their destructive agenda "by any means necessary".
The press so far has only reported on sales on September and October. They claim those numbers are only an 8% increase. They have yet to mention the flurry of sales in November since the election. Several gun stores whose owners I know have said their sales of specific types of weapons and ammo have more then 10 folded this month. One dealer I know usually sells 25 firearms a month. At each of two guns hows gun shows this month they sold 50+ firearms each day. One owner of one of largest gun stores probably in the sountry is processing NICS day and night trying to satisfy the demand. An ammo dealer who sells primarily wholesale for government contracts has turned to private sales. As he puts it, “Those sales now dwarf my federal contracts.” A large retail chain store manager bought 250 AR-15s in various configurations in anticipation of Obama winning the election. He sold all 250 in one week flat. He usually wouldn’t sell 250 in a year. I have had several freinds who have never owned a gun buy in the past two weeks. That actually took me by surprise.
The following was posted on their website: AIM Surplus
11/18/2008 Memo to our Customers: As you know, we at AIM and others in the firearms industry are experiencing an extraordinarily high demand for the products we sell.
This extreme demand compares only to the spike experienced in 1993-1994 when the Brady Bill became law.
Although we will do all we can to insure the fulfillment of your order(s) in its entirety, we are experiencing product shortages that may result in backorders or delays of specific product from your order.
We ask for your patience as we work diligently to process orders, answer phone calls and respond to the thousands of emails requesting information about orders placed and product status.
Although some have responded to this spike by raising their prices immediately after the election. You have our promise that we will make every effort to maintain our advertised prices until our suppliers increase our costs.
In an effort to better control our remaining inventory, we are allowing only selected products to be purchased via our website.
Thank you again for your business and your patient understanding.
This is a heck of a lot more than “anecdotal”; I was talking to managers in the gun sections of two huge sports chains and both said they had never seen anything like the level of firearms sales. One sold 68 AR-type rifles in one day...the manager at Sportsman’s Warehouse told me he was having a hard time refilling orders on handguns they were going so fast. He told me this while I was filling out the paper work on my new Sig 1911.
By “anecdotal” I meant only that it is based on observations rather than a full-fledged statistical survey of a large number of gun shops. Wonder how Obama feels about this “vote of confidence” in his gun-grabbing agenda?
Good advice to look at it as an investment. It is an investment in home safety, but also if there should be a general collapse (may Heaven forfend) then ammo will become a form of currency, something of value to trade.
Here’s a question, does anybody know what the laws are about buying in a neighboring state from where you live? For instance, living in California and trying to purchase a gun from a pawn shop in Vegas (since they have so many of them there)? Aside from waiting periods that might be in effect, what are some other restrictions/ramifications?
"We are running 5 days behind on packing your orders and also running up to 5 days behind responding to your e-mails. We are working 7 days a week and up to 14 hours a day. The volume of orders and e-mails has been overwhelming. Our website will confirm your order and send you a tracking number unless you have a spam blocker that blocks us or the UPS e-mail with tracking information. Those e-mails come from two different e-mail servers. Also we have a few that don't enter the correct e-mail address. otherwise you will get two e-mails from us. one after you place the order and one when it ships from UPS. We cannot answer the phones at this time either. Just way too many calls."
Usually, and ALL CAPS posting is indicative of a n00b. You should know better. tsk, tsk, tsk
Now the question is, how many of those good citizens with their cases of ammo and shiny new rifles will meekly comply with the doubtlessly coming letters of confiscation?
How many will answer the letters with shot up range targets and letters of their own warning of the consequences of any further unConstitutional actions?
We'll just have to wait and see if there's still some bite in the old dog Liberty.
Ammunition prices at my local Walmart have not increased over the past couple of weeks...at least not the rounds I purchase. Two and 3/4” 00 12 guage, .38, 9mm, 30 06, 22LR. All have remained the same and all but the shotgun shells, still around. But this I believe is where the first attack from the left will come. A nice 1000% tax increase on ammunition. Perhaps strict limits on quantity purchases and time between. The assault on guns thwmselves will be later. The public will have to be properly primed by the MSM.
