Door, meet Hagel.
That's how many Republicans are likely to react after retiring Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel blasted Republicans in general and Rush Limbaugh in particular, claiming Rush and fellow conservative talkers "don't have any answers."
David Shuster, subbing for Olbermann on tonight's Countdown, highlighted Hagel's remarks of today.

After rolling tape of two Republican senators looking on the bright side, Shuster quoted at length from Hagel, whose name had been bandied about as a possible Obama VP pick.
SHUSTER: Not all of the GOP is so sunny about their party. Retiring Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska took some time at a forum at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies to analyze just how the Republicans ended up in their current predicament.

Damn. I wanted to be the first!
Maybe Hagel is asking the wrong questions...
For all the Freepers over the last decade who have told us we need to support RINOs to widen the party base - Hagel is the perfect example of what you get. Backstabbing lying vermin.
Chaffee, Hagel, McCain, Specter, Snow, Powell, et. al.. can rot in hell. Never be fooled again.
Hagel only confirms the GOP is increasingly becoming more socialistic to expand the voter base. The result is the two parties are merging into one big Republicrat party.
“Ill stick to Savage Nation and others.’
Well, now theres a guy with a lot of power.
Finally a sunshiny day after the storm.
“Ill stick to Savage Nation...”
LOL.Joe, you were sounding quite coherent and persuasive right up to that point.
Weiner is a schizo bedbug who should be under observation at Bellevue.
Wouldn't that make him stupid?
Expand RINO’s to include all Republicans, and your sentence will be more accurate.
Just an another example of why people who dare to promote the theory that an “R” is worth stomaching these people are fools. I’d rather be down to 10 seats in the Senate all conservatives and have the ability to have a fresh start with good people then suffer anymore like him, McCain, Stevens or any other RINO out there. Some call it a purging. I call it cleansing. THEN we rebuild. Though if possible doing both at the same time is preferable.
Ironically, so were you........
I predict MCCAIN will win by landslide. (11/04/08)
Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Nebraska, Hagels successor. But be sure that Hagel will remain a favorite of the MSM.
RUSH on Greta FNC (Maybe) in two minutes.
Now THAT’S funny.
damn you are good!!
Meant to bolster voter turnout. Rush must be surprised by his lack of influence at the ballot box. He needed a McCain win to avoid facing the "fairness doctrine" threatening his empire.
Will he lead a march? no. Will he ever step out from behind the mic? no.
It's all about holding on to EIB 1. Note, his trying to get everyone fired up about the FD since the election.
The RINOs are not necessarily the problem here. Discipline is. The Dems keep there people in line, the Republicans don’t.
Old proverb - The fish rots from the head down. The lack of leadership, from the White House down, has been a huge reason why the discipline has broken down.
I don’t remember him predicting a McCain landslide.
I remember him saying, his gut told him it was all about turnout.
Well, the base didn’t turn out, and we lost.
The prediction he recently made that I remember, was that two years ago he said the war in Iraq would not determine the election, it would be the economy. This was when the press could talk about nothing else than the “quagmire” in Iraq.
Of course he’s not always right, but I think he has a better record than most.
