I don't agree with everything this guy is saying, but I think the overall idea is right. We need to remember the history of our party, not just listen to the religious wing. The economic wing was here before the religious wing.

Phyllis Schlafly comments on Huckabee's lack of conservatism

Phyllis Schlafly, president of the national Eagle Forum, is even more blunt. "He [Huckabee] destroyed the conservative movement in Arkansas, and left the Republican Party a shambles," she says. "Yet some of the same evangelicals who sold us on George W. Bush as a 'compassionate conservative' are now trying to sell us on Mike Huckabee."

Sad to say, Mike will tear anyone down if he thinks it makes him look better. He has no loyalty to anyone but himself.

Wow, you should have paid better attention in history class. The civil war was at it's heart an economic battle -- one between the agrarian economic interests of the south against the industrialization of the north. Lincoln could have gave a rat's ass about the well being of the slaves -- it was a way to achieve economic and political superiority over the geographic rivals. Besides, the bible is very clear that slavery is permissible and detailed rules about when you could and could not beat your slave. The fight to end slavery had nothing to do with religion.

I once toyed with libertarianism and rejected it. Reason: you do not have the right to do wrong. I embraced true conservatism in which there are moral absolutes.

The fact that many actual conservatives still like and support RINO politicians, such as Huckabee, Romney, Crist, Daniels (a pro-nanny politician), Giuliani, and many others instead of fully supporting real conservatives, such as Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, Duncan Hunter, Sr. and Tom Tancredo is only part of why real U.S. conservatism will remain in the dark in this country for a very long time, if not forever. Conservatives must also find a successful way of getting behind just one actual conservative candidate for POTUS and then just always stay with just that one real conservative candidate throughout both the primary season and during the general election. If “leftist political dominance” can still successfully happen throughout the state of Massachusetts, then it can also successfully happen at the national level for the long-term, if real conservatism really fails to have any kind of serious and successful political comeback throughout the U.S. and at any time in the future!

Preamble to the US Constitution alludes that government policy should promote six items, libertarians concentrate on individual liberties, but domestic tranquiliy and the general welfare are also promoted with the liberties, and not one at the expense of the other. Read the original commentaries on domestic tranquility and general welfare it alludes to moral parameters to avoid social instability, furthemore our founding fathers used the term liberty in lieu of freedom. Liberty is defined as freedom bounded by moraltiy. Morality has a spiritual and applied component. The spiritual component is rooted in religious theology and usually it is confirmed over time and practice to be beneficial to society (ala wisdom).
