Every so often, we California voters do something that reverberates far beyond the state's borders.
We did it in 1978 when we approved Proposition 13, a property tax limit that heralded a so-called "tax revolt" in other states and helped Ronald Reagan win the presidency.
We did it in 1994 when we passed Proposition 187, a measure aimed at ending public benefits for illegal immigrants that touched off a fierce national debate despite being invalidated by the courts.
And we did it this month when we passed Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment to overturn the state Supreme Court's legalization of same-sex marriage, igniting a firestorm of protest from gay rights advocates and another legal duel.
The preliminary vote tally was scarcely completed before opponents of Proposition 8 filed new petitions asking the Supreme Court to void the measure as violative of basic human rights and/or as an illegal revision of the state constitution. The constitution says the initiative process can be used only to amend the constitution while more extensive revisions must come from the Legislature or a constitutional revision convention.
On Monday, Attorney General Jerry Brown a likely candidate for governor with a long-established pro-gay rights record steered a careful course through Proposition 8's political minefield, describing the issue as one of "profound importance" and urging a rapid judicial decision, but also opposing the plaintiffs' request for a stay on Proposition 8's effects, and stopping short of endorsing the measure's constitutional validity.
Brown gave Proposition 8 an official ballot title and summary that the measure's sponsors believe was weighted against them and has since declared that same-sex marriages performed between the Supreme Court decision and Election Day remain valid. ...as attorney general, he also has a duty to defend voter-approved measures in court, even those he opposes.

Time for another recall, actually five: Brown and the Gang of Four on the CA Supreme Court.
When I think of Jerry, I think of Linda Ronstadt and the PCV valve.
Who is gathering funds to recall the justices and the attorney general of California?
California, with its oh-so-democratic propositions. Where everyone can have a say in deciding the state’s policies. Anything can get on the ballot, if you work hard, donate money, and get those signatures.
Be aware, though, that if your proposition might be unsavory to liberals, that even if all of California passes it, the courts will promptly overturn it. The more money your proposition will waste, or the more it promotes a fringe lifestyle as-seen-on-TV, the better chances it has.
Prop 8’s original title was something like “Definition of Marriage”, but AG Moonbeam renamed it “Take Away Civil Rights” or something like that. His renaming the Prop played a large part in changing the poll numbers from 60% to just barely passing. Actually, for a while, No on 8 was leading until Newsom’s “whether you like it or not” was aired.
If any justices try to overturn the peoples vote on Proposition 8, then these justices should be ousted as well !

It’s funny to hear homosexuals compare gay marriage to civil rights. They seem to think they have a constitutional right to marry whoever and whatever they want. What’s next,a marriage between man and beast or man and child?
So stat ousting them already. Before they do MORE damage.
“...and the PCV valve.”
And the birth of C.A.R.B., and life was never the same since.
All I want to hear is when the approved Proposition 8 will become a part of the State Constitution as lawfully passed by the people of California. All this psycho-babble is nonsense and noise. Please stop it and provide a schedule to carry out the mandate of the people!
My very liberal uncle was lamenting to me in September that it was just not fair that he paid less property tax than his kids, because he has lived in his home so long. I suggested that he send more money to the state as a donation. I assured him that they would be glad to keep it. Of course, that is not what he wanted to hear, he wants everybody's taxes raised.
If the Court invalidates the will of the people yet again, a recall needs to take place.
If you’re from California, you may want to call up your friends to start a recall.
Care to list the names of those executed since then. Hint None.
We elect Justices in California, the lefties will have to run again in two years.
