The state Canvassing Board today directed that a recount begin tomorrow in the U.S. Senate race between Republican Sen. Norm Coleman and DFLer Al Franken, even as the board considers a last-minute request from the Franken campaign to include rejected absentee and mailed ballots in the initial count.
The board confirmed that, with all the state's 87 counties reporting, Coleman leads Franken by 215 votes out of more than 2.9 million votes cast. After county canvasses showed a margin of 206, Coleman gained an additional 25 votes, and Franken 16, from a post-election audit of voting machines in 205 randomly-selected precincts.
"The report triggers the counting by hand of the four races which will begin tomorrow morning," said Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, chair of the five-member canvassing board. In addition to the Senate race, the results in two state House races and one state Senate race also will be recounted.
Only minutes before the state board began its meeting at 1 p.m., Franken's campaign asked the board in a legal brief to postpone finalizing the count in the Senate race until all precincts were accounted for. At least 49 counties have failed to canvass every precinct, the campaign argues in the brief, and so the board "cannot accept the county reports as the basis for its own certification of the accuracy of the voting totals."
The Franken campaign also took issue with the attorney general's contention Monday that rejected absentee ballots don't have to be considered in the initial count or the recount. The Democratic campaign, citing a U.S. Supreme Court precedent that put a Republican in the White House, said that the case of Bush v. Gore made clear that voters should be treated equally

For all you RINO’s who didn’t think that your ONE vote meant anything...
Franken is trying to get a pile of bogus votes in the pile now rather than later. The big difference is (I believe) once the recount begins, he’ll be able to get the disputed votes in only through a court ruling in his favor.
It could all come down to US Georgia Senate for 60 if the Dims flip both Alaska and Minn. through fraud.
Desperation tatics...
Isn’t funny how RHINOs are having to beg for our vote, when they don’t REALLY give a rat’s a$$ about us in the first place?
Amnesty, Drill Here Drill Now and every others.
Taxme Shameless must apologize before he gets my vote!
Coleman has a strong pro-life record.
Let the fraud begin..
Psssst! Hey Franken, have you checked the cemetery for additional voters yet?
Let’s hope the Repubs who watch the counting aren’t bought.
The Obama Birth Certificate story with Alan Keyes sueing to stop California electorial votes is now on Drudge Report. Send him a big thank you and ask him to make it a headline.
It is another torn corner to our great Constitution, but Obama is most likely going to be sworn in. However, if we can weaken his presidency with his refusal to prove he is eligible to be our president, then many of his socialist policies might get blocked and maybe, many Americans might get mad and wake up.
The Democrats are scam artists and they don't care who hurt as long as they increase their power. Their desire to rub it in by using the worse most left-wing and ineligible candidates, might be their undoing.

I hate to say it, but with Democrats basically in charge of the recount, this is going to be a hell of an uphill battle.

“It could all come down to US Georgia Senate for 60 if the Dims flip both Alaska and Minn. through fraud.”
Alaska is a done deal. Not sure whether that was fraud or just a lean of absentee folks for the Dem. Almost all of that is Ted Stevens fault. Had he not quit before the primary we’d have won going away.
The Minnesota situation is clearly fraud. Who knows what happens? I suspect it ends up Dem too. They will “find” enough votes. You have to beat them by more than 216 or else its as good as a loss in my book.
It will be interesting to see how many ACORN votes Franken’s people can slip in for him?
Another pertinent observation from Powerline (same link):
There has as yet been no full accounting for the previous adjustments that resulted in the shrinking of Senator Coleman's margin from 725 votes on the morning of November 5 to the 206 votes that preceded any final adjustment. Some day perhaps the Minnesota media will get around to taking a look in the interest of a fullly informed citizenry. Until that time, we will probably have to rely on the work of outside observers such as John Lott and Ed Lasky.
The sad part is when we lower our standards and expectations to such a pathetic place where someone like Franken is even competitive.
Surely your comment isn't meant to equate a RINO with his opponent, a WHACKO???
