Staten Islanders are not so much "conservative" as parochial. There is a difference. Nevertheless, they did give 54%-55% of their vote to McCain, which is better than ANY downstate county, city or suburban.

You just gave me some consolation for leaving that party in the vain hope of voting for Thompson in the primary. I wonder what their statewide vote was? I still vote in their column, because it is almost always the same as the GOP.
