Although he doesn't have a seat, Al Franken will have the floor Tuesday when he meets with Democratic leaders in the U.S. Senate.
Franken, who is locked in a mandatory recount of the Nov. 4 balloting with Republican incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman, will update Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and others on the recount process, said his spokeswoman, Colleen Murray.
The Senate leaders and the candidate also will talk about upcoming legislation, she said.
"If he should win this election, it would be irresponsible for him not to get ready to take office," she said. "Minnesota deserves a senator who is ready to take office on Day One."
Franken, who was last in Washington in September, will skip a scheduled orientation for new senators also scheduled for this week.
Attending that, Murray said, would be "presumptuous."

I don’t know in what order, but Norm voted against drilling in ANWR.
I remember in 2000 that George Bush was not allowed any access to the WH or any transition money until mid December. So was algore but as VP he already had full governmnet access.
WTF? Only sitting senators and official guests may speak on the Senate floor. Oh, wait; I forgot. Harry Reid (Scumbag - NV) is in charge...
Like what? What power do you think the governor has over this process?
Hmmm...I dunno but if I was Governor and a pornographer/thug like Al Franken was stealing an election in my state I might say something like:
“Hey, a pornographer/thug is stealing the election!”
Or is actually saying something besides ‘SAMS CLUB SAMS CLUB SAMS CLUB SAMS CLUB’ too much for Pawlenty?
I hate you. This is the last time I click on any title with Frankens name on it. Now if you will excuse me I am going to poke my eyes out.
It could be worst. That could be your next senator.
Typical of dems to act as if they won so they can claim the election was stolen.
I think you owe horse's asses a huge apology.
This senate deserves Franken.
And we’ll be stuck 6 years with the Anus Horribilus.
Similarly, there is a LONG count in CA-4 with tens of thousands of outstanding ballots. Thus, BOTH Tom McClintock and Charlie Brown (currently a few hundred votes apart) have been invited to Washington for “freshman orientation”.
Hah! Well put. Franken is a waste of space.
