AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, Maha-Rushie! America’s anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A Real Man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander in Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do—that’s host. Get ready to what you were born to do—that’s listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).

We love to hear Rush Limbaugh,
Excellence in Broadcasting.
From sea to shining sea,
Millions and millions listen.
Conservative voice of freedom,
Heard throughout all America.
A message pure and truthful,
The downhearted are encouraged.
Integrity and honesty his motto.
We love you, Rush.
Listen to Rush Limbaugh.
G-d Bless you, Rush Limbaugh.

I don’t know . . . smacks of socialism to me. ;-)

Actually, the update was broadcast on our local station this morning. Rush talked about the hypocrisy of liberal sportscasters claiming anyone who did not vote for Obama was a ‘racist,’ and cited the pitiful “diversity” statistics on the sportscasting industry.

At the end, he was trying to say “if the shoe fits,” and ended up saying something else. Anyway, he closed by laughing and said “I did a bang-up job on that, didn’t I?” I was surprised they left it in.

Re: Cuban

“As we allege in the complaint, Mamma.com entrusted Mr. Cuban with nonpublic information after he promised to keep the information confidential. Less than four hours later, Mr. Cuban betrayed that trust by placing an order to sell all of his shares,” Scott W. Friestad, deputy director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, said in a statement. “It is fundamentally unfair for someone to use access to nonpublic information to improperly gain an edge on the market.”

According to the SEC, the complaint seeks to permanently enjoin Cuban from future violations of the federal securities laws, disgorgement (with prejudgment interest), and a financial penalty.

“....Obama will keep Guantanamo open....”

Gotta have someplace to send the redneck bigots, donchaknow.

Sending us all to North Dakota or eastern Montana (the North American Outback) would be just a tad too much like throwing a shark back into the ocean.

Unions Killing Detroit

Dan Ikenson of the CATO Institute has another great posting on the “cancer” that is unions in the U.S. auto making industry. If you’ve followed developments in the auto industry at any time during the past couple couple decades, you’ve probably heard of GM’s “Jobs Bank.”

http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/6345

Money For Nothing (Labor union sickness on an unimaginable scale) May 2006

In his 34 years working for General Motors, one of Jerry Mellon’s toughest assignments came this January.

He spent a week in the “rubber room.”

The room is a windowless old storage shed in Flint, Mich. It is filled with long tables, Mr. Mellon says, and has space for about 400 employees. They must arrive at 6 a.m. each day and stay until 2:30 p.m., with 45 minutes off for lunch. A supervisor roams the aisles, signing people out when they want to use the bathroom.

Their job: to do nothing.

This is the Jobs Bank, a two-decade-old program in which nearly 15,000 auto workers continue to get paid after their companies stop needing them. To earn wages and benefits that often top $100,000 a year, the workers must perform some company-approved activity. Many volunteer or go back to school. The rest clock time in the rubber room or something like it.

It is called the rubber room, Mr. Mellon says, because “a few days in there makes you go crazy.”

The Jobs Bank at GM and other U.S. auto companies including Ford Motor is likely to cost around $1.4 billion to $2 billion this year. The programs, which are up for renewal next year when union contracts expire, have become a symbol of why Detroit struggles even as Japanese auto makers with big U.S. operations prosper.

Don’t you love how the left has clubbed Bush over the head about deficits the last 8 years and Obama said yesterday that living with deficits as long as necessary to save the economy is now part of his budget plan?

All this immediately after having a MONTHLY deficit of 260+ billion bucks (about the same as 6-8 months deficit under Bush/Pubs

Hope! Change!

Hi everybody, Terri here. Just wanted to jump in and say HI while we still have Rush on the airwaves. One never knows what 2009 will bring.

Speaking of Rush, he sounds really great today. Well, its back to USO duties. Hey we just had part of our 76th come home last Wednesday. I wasn’t able to attend the event but I’m told they gave the plane a water cannon salute. Is that cool or what?

When Mc signs on a Defense Sec., he will close Gitmo.

Two to go now that AB Steaks is done. I’ll guess Carbonite and Lifelock.

Anyone here use either of the two?

Russia the next climate recalcitrant

THE melting of the Arctic ice cap has created an awkward new threat to international climate change talks by convincing senior officials in Moscow that Russia stands to reap an economic bonanza from ice-free northern oceans. Sightings of exhausted polar bears swimming in waters that were once thick with ice floes have fuelled calls for more urgent action on climate change, but the heaviest thawing in thousands of years has also raised hopes of new shipping routes and access to long-frozen oil and gas fields.

Next Under the Bus: UAW?

Everybody should see a ghost town. I saw one the year before last, visiting Montana. That was Garnet ghost town in the Rockies, 30 miles east of Missoula. Ghost towns are melancholy places, of course. There’s a visitor center in Garnet with photographs of the people who once lived there. It seems to have been a good family town. There were lots of kids, a well-built school, a dance hall.

The Campaign Was the Easy Part

Citing the addition of Rahm Emanuel and a spate of leaks, Noam Scheiber asks: “Is Obama’s militantly disciplined campaign becoming your standard messy presidency?” The answer? Of course. No presidency can be as focused as a campaign. Campaigns have a single goal–election–and, in comparison to an actual administration, a minuscule group of decision makers.

After Obama’s win, white
backlash festers in US (argh)

Atlanta - In rural Georgia, a group of high-schoolers gets a visit from the Secret Service after posting “inappropriate” comments about President-elect Barack Obama on the Web. In Raleigh, N.C., four college students admit to spraying race-tinged graffiti in a pedestrian tunnel after the election. On Nov. 6, a cross burns on the lawn of a biracial couple in Apolacon Township, Pa.

Henry Kissinger is for her!
I’m not. Are you? (SWMNBN)

I confess: Hillary Clinton has never appealed to me. There have been so many Hillary Clintons that I suspect that none was authentic. In any case, the young Hillary was a fashionable leftie. No, she wasn’t Bill Ayers. But her Wellesley commencement address was especially trite when trite was the rule. She worked for a communist law firm.
