That's how these people seem to always get their way whether it's the race hustlers or whatever. It's time we stood up and not kowtow to them anymore, FWIW

Brushcop has a pretty salient explanation of my understanding of the situation in Post #46.

If you'll don your tinfoil hats with me, I'll go a step further. If I wanted to create an ideal honey-pot to bleed off all the opposition energy from conservatives, I'd think about creating freerepublic.com as a magnet for people to get their disgust for the destruction of our country off their chest.

It would attract the affluent people who could otherwise send money, work in campaigns, go door-to-door, attend city council meetings, read local public school curricula...

Instead we can get on here, fire off a few hot missives, and feel like we've said our peace...'to hell with it all.' I'm beginning to wonder...does FR really help the conservative cause, overall?

Ok. If I get this correct.
People on FR complain and rant but do not really do anything.
Wow, just wow.
I would have given people on FR way more credit, than you have.

Tin foil? Nah, I think you have a valid point.

The fact is, personally, I spend too much time here. I should be devoting the time to my business. My point is that the time I do spend here pales in comparison to the time it would take to protest as these militants do, I would also assume my position is typical for a lot of fellow FReepers so yes it does make us feel like we're involved to some extent. But, does it really accompish anything? In reality, probably not as much as we would like.

Like Rush says, "when is our turn to riot"? The time appears to be getting close.

” all that is needed is to shut down free discourse (talk radio, about the only thing left) and dampen the same on the internet in order to isolate people from sharing like-minded opinions and banding together. Once isolated, they are far less likely to organize into any effective resistance movement and that is what we will see happen...”

YES - THIS IS KEY ALINSKY METHOD - ISOLATION. THE KEY THING TO RESPOND IS TO REFUTE THE ISOLATION BY MAKING A NOISE IN RESPONSE.

COUNTER-FREEPS ARE VERY EFFECTIVE IN THESE SITUATIONS.

“Instead we can get on here, fire off a few hot missives, and feel like we’ve said our peace...’to hell with it all.’ I’m beginning to wonder...does FR really help the conservative cause, overall?”

It reduces isolation factors to know there are like-minded folks... but if the community is not turned into ORGANIZED action, then it is not changing anything.

Please somebody take the hint in Cali:
