Bill Maher, on HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher," frequently refers to the Old Testament of the Bible as the Book of Jewish Fairy Tales.
The description might anger the pious and the fundamentalists, but guess what? Maher's close to the truth.
A visually stunning two-hour special edition of "Nova" examines decades of archaeological studies that contradict much of what is in the Bible.

Nothing new here. Unbelievers have been saying God is a fairly tale from the beginning of time.

They should watch the Naked Archaeologist, who proves just the opposite.

Liberals have had a real embarrassing run on these matters lately. Too much archaeology supports the historicity of much of scripture. Minimalists circle the wagons with compliant dumba%ss media.

The Bible is the anvil of truth. This will be another in a long series of broken hammers.

Yawn. The only fairy tales here are those being told by NOVA as they rely upon nonsense that has been obsolete for decades. Modern archaeology has confirmed the Old Testament in its facts and history over and over again, often in astoundingly precise, specific detail.
See here, here, and here for examples.

Yahoo and Reuters have declared Bill Maher right!
That settles it, we throw away our bibles and bow to the new God, Obama.

I miss the old 'NOVA' series with Carl Sagan.
Back then it had shock value, today it doesn't.

Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One.
"Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.

Next NOVA takes on the Koran? I don't think so...

Sad to say but, one day Bill Maher will ask for just one drop of water on his tongue and he WILL know the truth.

“Maher’s close to the truth. “
Maher wouldn’t know the truth if he tripped on it in the light of day.

Just in time for Christmas! Scrooged again!
(What about all the History Channel shows that show the amazing archeological evidence that supports the Bible?
Having been to the Holy Land and walked the sites and seen the archeological teams at work on the digs...I can say the latter is much more compelling)

From the news story-—
“Then again, science and religion have had a long history of conflict until, ultimately, the former prevails.”
I wouldn’t throw the word “ultimately” around in such a cavalier fashion regarding these matters.
