Israel, Germany reportedly develop missile warning system

Working in secret, Israel and Germany have jointly developed a nuclear missile detection system, according to the Defense News Web site.

Code-named Project Bluebird, the system is based on the prototype of an aerial infrared sensor designed to identify a nuclear-tipped missile speeding toward a target amid a cluster of decoy missiles.

Military planners work under the assumption that in a nuclear strike, decoy missiles could be launched along with those carrying nuclear warheads to confuse and overwhelm missile defense shields. According to the sources, Project Bluebird is designed to avert such a scenario.

On November 3, Defense News published details of the program and cited a German defense official as confirming its existence. According to the Web site, the system's infrared sensor has already been tested aboard a business jet.

Wait a second. Wasn’t Germany one of the countries bitching and moaning about us building a missile defense system?

Not that it matters anymore since hussein obama will surely scrap those plans anyway.

Good timing for Israel.

TIMESOnline.co.uk: "RUSSIAN SPY IN NATO COULD HAVE PASSED ON MISSILE DEFENCE AND CYBER-WAR SECRETS" by Roger Boyes in Berlin (ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A spy at the heart of Nato may have passed secrets on the US missile shield and cyber-defence to Russian Intelligence, it has emerged. Herman Simm, 61, an Estonian defence ministry official who was arrested in September, was responsible for handling all of his country's classified information at Nato, giving him access to every top-secret graded document from other alliance countries. He was recruited by the Russians in the late 1980s...") (November 16, 2008)

Well, now that the United States of American has fallen to the antisemitic leftists it looks like Israel has found itself a new “best buddy.”

I'm sure the Germans will be able to offer the same level of security and support as them knuckle draggin Christian right wing nutcases usta do. Don't worry...

Good. The more ABM defense systems for Israel, the better. Iran can continue to develop more range for the more cowardly targets.

This needs to be read. BUMP, Cindy.

Germany has been Israel's "second best" buddy for decades. It all started with Adenauer and Ben-Gurion: Israel needed money, (West) Germany a fast track to international rehabilitation. Later there have been trade agreements, intelligence and military cooperation. E.g.: Today Israel uses German u-boats, modified to carry nuclear warheads, for the first time giving Israel second-strike capability in case of an attack.

Israel has also ordered an advanced version featuring fuel cell AIP (air independent propulsion), which greatly improves endurance without snorkeling (one-third paid for by Germany). It's the best compromise as far as non-nuclear subs go: Small enough to get close to the coast (for intelligence missions), yet able to stay for weeks in Iran's backyard, armed with nukes (in case of a crisis).

That’ll come in handy when Russia is welcomed into the European Union and all the US rocket scientists who are trying to relocate there ahead of Obama’s gutting of US space and aerospace budgets can help Russia develop a missile defense system. It really fits right into the plans of the old SDS.

Not exactly, Hitler was. And that was 3 generations ago now. The Israeli’s aren’t stupid, and the German Govt has a consistent way of behaving that publicly seems to endorse the popular leftist anti-war sentiment while privately being highly cooperative with US and Israel on military matters. Also, due to “collective guilt” Germans may be much more positively disposed to Jews, in general, than say, for example, the very anti-semetic French. Germans and Israelis actually have quite a bit in common culturally in some ways.

Yes, Germans and Jews generally got along well until H. and his friends decided it would be a good idea to murder them all. I mean, there's a reason why so many exceptional personalities from German-speaking countries had a Jewish background.

I bet most Israelis will still be rather mad, but I guess even the hardliners don't assume Germany is going to invade Israel any time soon, so cooperative military research is a good idea, even if Israelis won't necessarily go and spend their holidays in Germany.

And I’m not entirely certain, but I recall having read somewhere that the defense system will not really be protecting Europe anyway, due to the path of the assumed attacking missile having progressed too far, the speed being too high and so on, but I could be wrong.
