Jindal: Something Is Wrong With The GOP ([You think. -:)]
CBS FACE THE NATION ^ | 11-16-08 | Staff

"Number one, we have got to stop defending the kind of spending and out-of-control spending that we would never tolerate in the other side. You know, when voters tell us that they trust Democrats more to cut their taxes [and] control spending, that tells you something is wrong with the Republican Party. We've got to match our actions with our rhetoric.

"Number two, we've got to stop defending the kinds of corruption we would rightfully criticize in the other party. The week before the election, our most senior senator is convicted on federal charges - and that's only the latest example.

"Number three, we have got to be the party that offers real solutions to the problems that American voters, American families are worried about. We don't need to abandon our conservative principles; we can't just be the 'party of no.' We need to offer real solutions on making health care more affordable, on the economic challenges facing families, on the international threats."

Also on the program, former House speaker Newt Gingrich said that Republican Governors represented the GOP's future.

"When you look at the governors - Governor Jindal and what he's doing in Louisiana; you look at Governor Mitch Daniels...Governor Jon Huntsman..there are a lot of lessons to be learned out there." [snip]

"So you do not see [Palin] as the de facto leader of the party at this point?" Schieffer asked.

"No," said Gingrich. "She's a wonderfully, intelligent, aggressive hardworking person who got, you know, hammered very badly by the press in, I think, fairly distorted ways.

"I think that she is going to be a significant player. But she's going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. She's not going to be the de facto leader."

She’ll be a player, but I believe Bobby Jindal is the GOP’s best shot at regaining the WH.

There is NOTHING wrong with saying 'no' to socialism. There is NOTHING wrong with looking to the country's founding principles for answers to today's problems. The solutions are timelss.

Actually, I'm kinda disappointed to hear Jindal talking this way.

No, quite on the contrary, because she is the new voice of conservatism.

She is not of the same ilk as the good ole boys in the GOP.

She is counter to rinos like Crist , for example.

Why Jindal? Because of his skin color?

Absolutely!

Keep your eye on Governor Jindal.

He could easily get the WH next time around.

I wouldn't object to Palin running again as VP but I would object to her running as President. Jindal has what it takes to take the WH.

She was teamed with, ahem, RINOS like McCain.

I hear nothing but good things about Jindal, but I cannot trust anyone who talks as fast as he does. He reminds me of Professors Michael Eric Dyson and Mark Lamont Hill.

Yes, but Newt seems to see her as a threat. But then he was a good organizer but not so good as an actual governor when he was speaker, else we might not be in the fix we’re in. He correctly names a good batch of leaders who are accumulating such experience and Governor Palin is clearly among them, so it’s up to her. Let’s see how she does, Newt, your sexism is showing.

Number 4, they have got to stop rolling over for the attacks from the left, and start fighting back. Yes, we have corruption on our side, but I have yet to see the kind of hue and cry from our side, about William J Jefferson, that they would be making about a Republican Congressman in such a situation.

Jindal: "Number one, we have got to stop defending the kind of spending and out-of-control spending that we would never tolerate in the other side. You know, when voters tell us that they trust Democrats more to cut their taxes [and] control spending, that tells you something is wrong with the Republican Party. We've got to match our actions with our rhetoric."

*sigh*

The tax cut rhetoric was matched with action. The entire federal income tax rates were drastically reduced in 2001 and again in 2003. They PROBLEM is that Republicans FAILED to communicate those facts that EVERYONE got tax cuts and the Democrats and the media were able to get away with the lie THAT ONLY THE RICH GOT TAX CUTS!

Regardless of what direction Republicans and Conservatives take in the near future, if you allow the MSM and Democrats to BURY your message, you ain't gonna do any better than this 2008 election!
