This is Obama’s standard MO. He used Biden to help him get elected, now he has no more use for him.

Biden was chosen SOLELY because he is perceived to have foreign policy experience. If Hillary or even Richardson is named secretary of state, Biden will be relegated to funeral duty and unimportant speeches in that will not even be covered.
I agree, VP is a perfect job for Joe. He attend foreign funerals, cut ribbons at new government buildings and enjoy a life of luxury in relative seclusion. If he launches too many gaffes, BO will send him to the bunker for safe keeping.
Biden will be a big nothing.

Of O allowed B to play a major roll, he might be even more dangerous than Dick Cheney and B wouldn’t want that.
Biden will be overseas, measuring Iraq, to cut it into thirds.
I’d wager that Obama originally planned to have Biden in the inner circle of advisers, but then Biden repeatedly proved during the campaign that he could not be trusted to keep his mouth shut. So now he’s probably going to be put on funeral and ribbon cutting duty.
I’m more inclined to think that Obama realized that Biden is a gaffe-prone idiot, but he was banking on the fact that the public was largely unaware of this and that the media would ignore it.
Even at funerals and ribbon cuttings he will probably be given a prepared script and Obama will have someone there to make sure he doesn’t deviate from it.
Then again, Hillary may push for Biden to have more opportunities to self-destruct.
Best comment on Biden (from interview with Karl Rove in today’s NY Slimes): “He has a combination of longwindedness and longevity in office that passes for wisdom in Washington”!! Brilliant and dead-on summary!

So we’ll have two worthless senators in two worthless executive posts. Good. Maybe Delaware and NY will put in somebody worthwhile. Not holding my breath, though. Maybe Rudy will run for Hillary’s seat.
