WASHINGTON — John McCain’s close friend and ally from South Carolina, fellow Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, will be on hand in Chicago Monday as McCain meets with his former rival, President-elect Barack Obama.

Also attending will be Obama’s new chief of staff, Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill.

In an interview Friday, Graham said Emanuel asked for the meeting about a week ago.

“We were talking about some things that we could work together on,” Graham said.

FTA:

Graham mentioned immigration policy and a long-term strategy for Social Security solvency as areas where bipartisan solutions are needed. McCain also has supported lifting restrictions on federal funding for stem-cell research and has championed campaign-finance and anti-corruption efforts, stances that appeal to Obama.

. . . . .

Advisers to both McCain and Obama say they don’t expect an administration post for the defeated Republican presidential nominee. But Obama’s aides say he would like to have the Arizona senator partner with him on legislation they both have advocated.

McCain's big F-U to conservatives is coming.

They already have a lot of socialist ground in common. It should be easy for them to work together.

If Sarah has by now had “enough” of this, this might be a good time to speak out to Conservatives.....let the few Republican conservatives make their choice NOW, and let the next 2 and 4 year cycles play out as they will in terms of the R party as such.....

I never donated a dime. And after reading this article, I'm not at all disappointed he lost. He would have been a disaster for the Republican Party and the conservative movement. Do you really want Bush II in the White House? Thanks but no thanks!

We, the American citizens, stopped this amnesty before and we are going to have to do it again. Let’s just get geared up for the phone calls and faxes and let our voices be heard. Isn’t it somewhere around 80% of us that opposed amnesty?

John McVain's final revenge will be to destroy what's left of the GOP's electoral base. For our own good, of course.

What "seek"? They're two peas in a pod on those issues.

Mccain will be used as the poster child for the “working across the isle moronic enthusiasts”. He will be the rats stepchild, “look John agrees with us so it must be good, these conservatives are bucking us at every turn and donot have the countries best interest as patriotic Americans” We can just hear the retoric and promotion in the suck a## media. He is no help now and never was any help to the conservative cause but he was better than we ended up with!

Thanks for the props. I’ll bet a dollar to a donut that McCain and Obama have a joint press conference tomorrow praising each other and vowing to work together on immigration reform, global warming, universal health care, closing GITMO, etc, ad nauseum. Watch it happen, mah FRiends.

With McCain in the WH, the Republican/Conservative brand would have been even more muddled

The silver lining in this loss may just be that now we’ve a chance to reassert true Conservatism.

I’m surprised they are trying to seek common ground. All they have to do is look down and realize they’re both neck deep in socialism.

I have long been an admirer of John McCain, and been flamed many times on FR. But John McCain lost the election and at 72 he is not Gerry Ford of 1977. He is not the leader of the GOP. If Obama wants to seek out GOP assistance let him seek out Mitch McConnell. Let him seek out Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal. Let him seek out Eric Cantor. The only two votes John McCain is now in a position to deliver is his and Lindsey Graham’s.
