WHAT THE FREAK were conservative voters thinking in Fla, California, Iowa, and elsewhere when they picked McCain???He was sort of 'forced' on us almost like Dole was in the 90's. In both cases we pretty much knew we had a loser but tried to make the best of it.

NO!

Former Democratic Governor Howard Dean of Vermont is stepping down, having completely recovered from his unfortunate reputation as an erratic and wildly liberal 2004 presidential contender. Yes. His reputation is now as an erratic, wild liberal.

Newts whining would drive a grown man to drink.

Exactly. No one who supports the man-made global warming BS, is anything but a covert supporter of big government.

We saw this movie. It started out with some great action scenes, but by the end, it was all whining and idiotic sex scandals. Cant the RNC come up with any new plots?ROFLOL, knee slapper!

“I’m currently in the FRed Thompson camp...”
Speaking of whom...where the heck is he? I like Thompson but he never fails to disappoint. He started out as the great conservative hope, ran a completely lackluster campaign, and quickly fizzled.

I’m telling people out there. We need to clean house and stop holing on to the old.
Bush has done more damage to the conservative people in America than anyone and yet here they are in here saying prayers for him. Unbelievable.
We need more that prayer, we need action and people we can count on. We need people who will not turn against their base like Bush has done, when they are elected.

It doesn’t seem that the american public has a problem with barak obama.
List all the defects of obama. He is in a very visible job.
Now we’re talking about newt doing an invisible job.
One for which he is highly qualified to do.
What is the Job? It is defending the republicans from democratic attempts to totally zone out republicans from American politics for the next 40 years.
No one else in the republican party understands both the inside the beltway congressional game and how to play.

Newt is irrelevant in the Republican party going forward.
He has become a moderate/liberal idealog.

You are correct . The pubbies as they stand now are washed up. No one needs democrat lite. The current crop of phonies have destroyed the brand. Unlimited spending , an even larger base for central control , billions squandered by the idiot in chief in that Mideast stink-hole and on and on. Bush wanted to be the baddest cat on the block , once again a man of privilege sends the sons of the working class to defend his honer , while at home refuses to lift a finger to defend himself or his supporters who have been under constant fire . Well soon he will slink off to that dust-bowl he calls a ranch. Good riddance.

We need someone young, hip and well-spoken that’s a serious conservative. Someone that would make it “cool” to be conservative. Someone that the youth would gravitate to. We need a conservative Obama. Newt is the one that said the Reagan era is dead. He’s not as solid as I think he should be.
To: dandiegirl
Also, the left loves to portray the conservatives as “grumpy old men”. We need to get away from that.
To: Edit35
Gingrich is a has been. We need someone new, someone who believes in upholding the Constitution, someone who can communicate, educate, and lead. There will never be another Reagan, but the more like him, the better.
To: itsahoot
Democrats however, have no problem using whomever that advances their agenda, that is why they have become so good at it. We on the other hand kill our own for the slightest slip, except of course the toe-tapper, who refused to resign. Wonder why there was no outcry about him, unless of course we offer deference to Homosexuals.
Cheating on his wife when he is taking Bill Clinton to task for the Monica Lewinsky affair and buying into the Man-Made Global Warming Scam is not killing our own for the slightest slip.
We on the GOP, at least the Conservative side of the GOP, tend to like honorable, common sense, principled leaders.
Newt fails on two of those three characteristics.

No one else in the republican party understands both the inside the beltway congressional game and how to play. You are right, but face it: We have too many "lose with honor" conservatives here for Newt to have a ghost of a chance. FR's bleeding deacons won't hear of it.
To: ckilmer
Problem is, Newt is in this only for himself, with Conservatism and the GOP coming in a distant second.

Well, it's not so much Nest's problematic marital history, it's the personally and politically asinine complaining about having to use the back door of Air Force 1 that got me concerned about him.
We gave him a heck of a congress 14 years ago. His first time around could be construed as squandering a mandate.
