Unasked questions in Anne Pressly case
Fox16 ^ | 11-14-08

Posted on 11/15/2008 5:37:52 AM PST by Dysart

A killer remains at large 25 days after attacking Anne Pressly in her home causing her death. There are still many unanswered questions. Now apparently there are also some unasked questions.

Behind Anne's home is a vacant house undergoing renovations. It has remained empty other than contract workers the homeowner has hired to remodel it. The home owner talked to us and wonders why police have still not talked to him.

"Officers have made several visits to the neighborhood making contact with the neighbors."

But police have not contacted this neighbor.

"You could stand on our back deck and throw a rock into her backyard," Homeowner Dan Moore said. And given his proximity to the crime scene Moore is quite surprised.

"I doubt that we would have anything to contribute that would be substantial...but how would they know that?"

Moore owns the house behind Pressly’s. It's been empty since February, other than the dozen or so contract workers remodeling it.

Moore says police have not questioned his contract workers either, but he has. "I asked them point blank if they had been approached or questioned by the police and everyone I asked which was everyone indicated they hadn't"

Police insist the investigation is making progress despite the alleged lack of contact between them and some neighbors. "I don't have the case files in front of me right now so I can't comment on who exactly they talked to," says Cassandra Davis with the Little Rock Police Department.

Police did comment on extra patrols, especially on Moore's street behind Pressly's, where occupancy is low.

Lessee . . .

Contract workers might see this woman. Maybe some construction workers might have a criminal record or might be illegal aliens with records unknown. If so, a person prone to violent crime or crimes of opportunity might find a woman alone an attractive target.

Am I getting warm?

Can I get a job as Chief of Police in this town?

The least they could do about this is background checks on all those workers, and find out if any have skipped town since the murder. Sounds pretty basic to me.

Some of what you say would appear plausible; It’s seems on the face of it to be sloppy work by investigators. I only hope they know who they are looking for and it ain’t these guys. But I don’t know.

Does it sound as though they really don’t want to know, or is it just my imagination.

It’s also true that an individual may see something that doesn’t appear out of the ordinary, but which actually makes a vital part of the puzzle that, when assembled, will lead to the murderer. Viewed that way, the failure of the police, to date, to interview the neighbors and construction workers is most disturbing, especially because memories of small, apparently irrelevant, events fade very quickly.

They’ll get around to questioning the workers in a few months from now. That seems to be how these types of cases usually go. Ignore the obvious until all or most of the evidence disappears.

But police have not contacted this neighbor.

Simple answer, this is Little Rock Police Department, as in Arkansas.

Maybe one of the cops has bleeding knuckles.

The presumes the reader knows what this is all about. I, for one, haven’t a clue.

Anchorwoman, anchorwoman, anchorwoman...

I go nuts whenever I hear that word...

Anchorwoman...yeeeahhh!

(So much for my reminisces of Steve Martin...) I know now who she is.

I don’t know a dang thing about cop work, but I do know that what is being sold here as cop work, ain’t. A woman was killed - even TV cops look wide for witnesses and suspects. Sheesh!

I don’t see that, but on the basis of this report, I don’t think all the bases have been covered.

Speaking of 'related stories', the following one was posted here just 10 minutes before this one. I wonder if IT's related?? Both occurred in Arkansas.

This appears to be just an accident. The one that still concerns me is Mr. Gwatney - even though the murderer is dead, we haven’t heard much about whether they’re continuing to investigate a possible motive for his (Gwatney’s) killing. It’s allmost as though it never happened.

Thanks. I didn't actually get around to reading it. I just saw the headline saying that someone connected to the Clintons was found floating in a river and made a premature assumption.

NYC recently had a contractor murder a young actress.

He was working on the apartment above.

Wouldn’t you think that the most logical place to ask questions would be those ‘strangers’ in the neighborhood?
