Fire Forces Evacuations, Burns Homes in Sylmar Area
Sayre Fire is near the 210 Freeway in Northern Los Angeles.
A dangerous, fast-moving brush fire in the Sylmar section of the San Fernando Valley, spread by gusting 50 mph winds has now burned at least five homes and is threatening several more, City Fire Department spokesperson Melissa Kelly said today.
So far there are no reports of injuries to residents or fire personnel, said Kelly.
The blaze ignited about 10:30 p.m. in the dry, brushy hills above 13000 W. Sayre Street near Shablow Ave, and has so far consumed more than 500 acres.

I kept my AC on all night, just cracked my window, smoke is really bad still.. guess the Yorba Linda and Brea fires have joined up
Prayers for all in harms way..May God protect the firefighters and comfort those who have lost their homes.
YES prayers for all, I am downwind of the fires about 6 to 10 miles
Why can’t Obama do anything about about this fire?
Oh my..I hate to see beautiful California burning..I have lived there and have a real affection for it. Be safe.
We are about 15 miles from the nearest fire and we have ash piled up real thick here. its like its snowing
I hate it for all affected..Take care..It must be awful to breathe...and a mess to clean up.
I lived in Goleta during the 1990 Painted Cave fire and watched the wind blow the fire down the hills..It jumped 101..but it was south of me...I never want to see such destruction again..I used to avoid looking at the big black scar coming down the hillside when I drove on the freeway.
A friend lost everything.
I just talked with my son in Northridge, and the smoke is bad, but they are leaving windows closed, and AC on. I’m just hoping the power doesn’t go down. (If it does, they are packed and ready to leave for relatives who are not in the line of smoke.)
And, praying for all who have suffered major loss, and those in harms way today.
It is really bad..Praying with you, yorkie..
Good interactive map link below. The fire is now headed towards Diamond Bar.

Your memory is so good, WCG!
I could not recall how many years ago it was that the white van was spotted near those fire starts. Around the same time was when the empty suitcases were showing up in odd places too. goat boy’s henchmen
Thank you for the map as it is exactly what I was hoping to find this morning.
I”ve been watching the local SD news and, imo, they are not giving these fires enough coverage.
Praying for all who are feeling the fallout from these fires.
So. Cal has been periodically burning since it was occupied by Indians, and long before that. It just goes with the territory, like many southwest regions.
California will remain the most beautiful state in America...The crown jewel of the free world.
I know it will come back.....but I hate the black scars until it does.
I remember that fire, I was living in MN, but my mom liven in Templeton then, so I was calling all the time to check on the fire..
I'm guessing the pink and red is the fire areas and the blue is evacuated? For some reason, no key with the maps.
