Fire Forces Evacuations, Burns Homes in Sylmar Area
Sayre Fire is near the 210 Freeway in Northern Los Angeles.
A dangerous, fast-moving brush fire in the Sylmar section of the San Fernando Valley, spread by gusting 50 mph winds has now burned at least five homes and is threatening several more, City Fire Department spokesperson Melissa Kelly said today.
So far there are no reports of injuries to residents or fire personnel, said Kelly.
The blaze ignited about 10:30 p.m. in the dry, brushy hills above 13000 W. Sayre Street near Shablow Ave, and has so far consumed more than 500 acres.

I wonder if the Nixon Library is OK,
I know our FRiends in the area are exausted.
CNN via the local news from Los Angelas is now reporting 3 seperate fires.
Only my opine but one of the fires may have split off so not that 3 are in actually going on.
Sorry my LA FReep friends go in listen to your directives ..
Stay out of that dang smoke...just because the fire is not in your area does not keep you safe from health issues...
Be wise get on some O2 (remember the old mom/granny tanks in the closet if possible)...dont go to ER you know why...
I hope all the livestock and dogs/cats are getting hurdled into the house.
We are up in Oregon and both woke up with severe sore throats..did that last time yall had huge San Simeion fires..
But we are lucky we can and know how to put on mist/o2...all homes should be equipped with such.
“Here is Odinga Village”
I’m nearly positive that the references to Odinga Village are incorrect.
It is Olinda Village. It is in east Brea, along Carbon Canyon Road on the way to Sleepy Hollow and then further to Chino Hills.
Have driven the road MANY times. Sister-in-law lives in Chino Hills.
Images are correct. My reading of the village name was incorrect.
I cannot understand why the demonstrations for same/same are getting more air play than life threatning fires in So. Cali at this time.
I wish my quad Cerebral Palsy son and all his adult like friends could get so much tv time...oops forgot they dont live that way they are who they are and more important is their right to life and supporting the right to live so they vote .....and live and vote..no time to take to the streets..to busy living.
11:30PM - Per the City of Chino, there’s an immediate evacuation ordered for the Sleepy Hollow area of Carbon Canyon. Smoke is visible from Pine Valley Estates off Eucalyptus Avenue.
(FOX)
That mobile home park in Olinda/Brea is being attacked on the east and the west. Fire also heading toward Olinda Ranch area in Brea. Also Brea Hills.
“11:30PM - Per the City of Chino, theres an immediate evacuation ordered for the Sleepy Hollow area of Carbon Canyon. Smoke is visible from Pine Valley Estates off Eucalyptus Avenue.”
Carbon Canyon Road is the only main paved road into/out of that area that I know of.
Scary. I would hope most got away much earlier.
My wife and daughter spoke to sister-in-law in Chino Hills about 6:00 PM and fires were in the hills nearby.
These fires are just awful. Cities all around have sent firefighters and equipment...”mutual assistance.” Some police, too.
Hey BG.
Get some rest.
I Pray you live in some old downtown hood with lotsa pools.
Find some 02 or make a cool mist so to protect your lungs from the float over.
I know that San Simeon/what ever fire from a few months ago hurt KV as he had to go upto OHSU in Pottyland and the smoke went right up I 5 to hippie land.
We are ok here on the coast but know you (dont care how dang strong and healthy you think you are) will find some oxy tanks or concentrators (same thing) to keep your bronch open.
I was thinking all yall need mist/o2 esp the bambinos...
Ebay...will be booming on concentrators...but check local med supply for used..
BE WELL
Wonder why KCAL 9 went off so suddenly... he said he was really being bumped around by the updrafts.
Stay out of that dang smoke...just because the fire is not in your area does not keep you safe from health issues...<<<
Good advice.
damn... I hate that.
