The deal is Dan: Brothers agree to sell Steelers
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | November 14, 2008 | Carl Prine

Four sons of deceased Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney Sr. have apparently agreed to sell a controlling stake of the team to their brother, Hall of Fame chairman Dan Rooney, and his son, Art II.

The deal could pay brothers Arthur Jr., Patrick, Timothy and John Rooney a total of $750 million after business debt is subtracted. The brothers hope to complete the deal before a meeting in December.

"We have a board meeting in December, but we hope that's just a formality and everything is out of the way by then," Art Jr. said.

Wall Street has estimated the value of the team at $800 million to $1.2 billion.

Heck, although Dan was at 0bama's side at the 'burgh rally just before Election Day, can't not root for him. Although an 0bamaniac, Dan's still a good person, and the Stillers wouldn't be the same without him.

I don’t blame those other brothers for taking their money out while they can.

Rooney’s an Obamatron? Well, the affirmative action standard for interviewing black coaching candidates bears him name.

Sorry breezy, Stiller fans are everywhere, you bet it's breaking, more than some of the other so-called breaking news that's out there, example:

Al Gore, Colin Powell, Caroline Kennedy in Obama's Administration? [Obama transition flowchart]

That's old news, nothing breaking about Algore or the others.

No such thing as a “good person” who supports Bambi.

Rush could be part of a consortium of investors, who knows?

I am not sure how much Art and Dan have stashed away or available as a credit line. A few well-vested interests may be needed.

Too bad Rush isn’t a gear&motorhead . ;-)

NASCAR needs very much to go through some tough times to remind them where their roots are. Much like the Republican Party.

Dan did show public support for Obama, but I only viewed it as his being a good Democrat and not an Obamaniac.

yep, and he should have hired Whisenhut instead of Tomlin-but he let that white guilt in his heart overrule the sound judgement in his head.

Stay away from this pro-sports ownership thing Rush. With a depression at hand there’s only losses in it.

I’m glad the team is staying in the family. I’m disappointed that the Rooney’s are Catholics who supported Obama.

Although I won’t say it too loudly, the Rooney family is the NFL, much as it was for Paul Brown back in the day in Cleveland and continuing of course in Cincinnati.

That the team is staying with the Rooney’s is a good thing.

I respect you immensely, but there are a few of us diehard, pig headed, Pittsburgh fans who think this is front page, “stop the presses”, breaking news.

It’s not just a guy thing, ... it’s a ‘Burgh thing!
