Attacks on Gov. Sarah Palin by McCain campaign staff at first appear to be a case of making her a convenient scapegoat, but the attacks have a more devious motive. This post-election barrage is the first volley of the campaign to choose the Republican nominee in 2012. The Washington, D.C. based establishment that rules the GOP wants her career over now. She threatens them.
Firefighting 101 teaches it is easier to stomp out a wildfire when it is small. Dont allow the fire to grow, spread and become an inferno. Sarah Palin was the spark of McCains reform campaign. She ignited the campaign and gave the reform message legitimacy.
Those knifing Palin are the old-guard Republicans who dont want to see her as the nominee in 2012. The old-guard GOP candidates are likely Gov. Haley Barbour or former Gov. Mitt Romney.
Sarah Palin brought a vibrant, fresh face to the Republican Party. The GOP elitists saw how she easily connected with voters. Palin drew huge crowds of up to 70,000 people anxious to see and hear her. The crowds flocking to see Gov. Palin bond with her culturally. She has the potential to garner Obama- or Reagan-like devotion.
The Republican Party needs this grassroots energy and her reform agenda after a decade of broken promises and the disappointing Bush presidency.
Looking back at history, you see resemblances of Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan in Palin. Both Thatcher and Reagan were dismissed and insulted by their own party stalwarts. Useful idiot was a term once leveled at President Reagan.
Palin hails from Wasilla, Alaska; Margaret Thatcher grew up in the apartment over her familys grocery store in a small town in England. Thatchers father taught her never to do things because other people were doing them. He said, Do what you think is right and then persuade others to follow you. Like Thatcher, Palins political philosophy and economic policies emphasize reduced government intervention, free markets and entrepreneurialism.
Margaret Thatcher was willing to take a hard line and earned the nickname Iron Lady for her tough-talking rhetoric defiantly opposing the Soviet Union. Likewise, Palin is tough enough to stand up to present-day threats. While Thatcher earned the moniker of Attila the Hen, Palin calls herself a Pit-bull with Lipstick and others dub her Sarah Barracuda.
Human, likeable, personable and witty like Reagan, with loads of common sense and confidence, Sarah Palin lives what she believes. And the camera loves her as it loved Ronald Reagan.
Grass-roots efforts are sure to encourage Palin to run in for president in 2012. Meanwhile, she trusts a higher power, saying she is, Putting my life in my creators handsthat is what I always do. She also said, Im like, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, dont let me miss the open door And if there is an open door in 12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then Ill plow through that door.
This rising star is now too bright to be extinguished by attempts at sabotage. She has addressed the criticism, setting the record straight concerning the purchase of clothes for herself and her family by the Republican National Committee, saying, Those are the RNCs clothes, they are not my clothes. I never forced anybody to buy anything. I never asked for anything more than maybe a Diet Dr Pepper every once in a while. And then theres the ridiculous rumors regarding the debate prep about NAFTA and Africa. Palin summed it up well, calling it cruel, its mean-spirited, its immature, and its unprofessional, and said, Those guys are jerks if they came away with it taking thing out of context, then tried to spread something on national news.
Yet Palin realizes criticism is to be expected in politics. Your life is an open book and you open yourself up to criticism and youd better be ready to take that criticism, she said. In other words, dont run for office if you cant handle it.
Those staffers guilty of anonymous attacks are cowards. Their agenda to control the GOP needs to be seen for what it is an attempt to kill the career of Sarah Palin because it threatens them. Americans can see through the falsehoods and love the real Sarah Palin. Nearly 400 letters arrive daily addressed to Gov. Palin and are now piled high in big bags waiting for her.

Think maybe you are on the wrong blog site.
I’m so much against our leadership using third world workers and so-called “affirmative action” to trash our families and Nation, that I’m now “unaffiliated” and nonpolitical. ...also disgusted with seeing conservative Americans enticed by tabloid-like, hormone-propelling propaganda to vote against their own interests. It’s now easy to see the long term effects of schooling funded by governments and “news” sponsored by the spoiled.
btt
I love Palin, and want to see her become President. But I think we need to look at her career in longer terms.
Her success horizon is much bigger and broader than ANY of the other politicians out there. She doesn’t have to run 12, she can run 16 or even in 20. Like Reagan, she has the capacity to build a movement and the groundswell may sweep her into national office.
You’re judging Palin on the king interview... Are you an English Major or something? :-)
Go watch each section of the 1980 Reagan - Carter debate on Youtube all the way through. And you will find that Palin out debated both Carter and Reagan, on style and substance if you compare her one vp debate to the one presidential debate of 1980. Both Reagan and Carter stuttered and stammered during the debate occasionally.
IMHO, you’re being too hard on Sarah, and you’re comparing her to an ideal that does not exist.
Those polls showed McCain-Palin’s numbers WITH PALIN FIGHTING! She pulled ten to twenty points BY HERSELF! Without her on the ticket it would have been a rout!
I love this lady.
My son the liberal in AK thinks she’s the best politician he’s ever seen.
All in all, it’s spiritual warfare, just like it’s been with George Bush even before he became president. Pray, pray, pray, that no weapon formed against her will prosper.
You sound, for all the world, like Murtha, generaliing and deciding that everyone out here in fly-over America must be what you consider to be a "red nick"".
Actually, Sarah's connection is beyond that type of cynicism. She connects with people because she communicates, clearly, and lives, traditional American values which have allowed this nation to be the freest, most prosperous, most generous, and strongest defender of liberty in history.
That's why people connect with her...and if that bothers you...so be it, you are free to your opinion.
But they are clearly not shared by tens of thousand wherever this woman has gone...and those numbers will only grow.
I have talked to a number of people identifying with them who are decidedly not pro-abortion. I do not believe we can over generalize there.
I don't mind the comparison to Reagan, but the comparison to Obama worries me. She MUST be more than a sexy messenger -- she must convey, uphold, and articulate an authentic vision of conservatism. We don't need a repeat of GWB and his faux brand of conservatism. And we certainly don't need the GOP version of Obama.
You know....come to think of it.....isn’t the logo for the Rocky Horror Picture Show (red lips) a quasi Palin icon???
President Bush? Is that you? ;-)

Palin kicked more butt in her 18 months in Alaska, than Ron did in 8 years as California Governor! Don't get me wrong, Reagan was a very good governor.
But you're right -- she hasn't commented significantly enough on the subject to be able to form an informed opinion as to where she stands on the issue.
Hopefully she will support enforcement of existing immigration laws, securing the border, and erecting other legal deterrents to solve that mess. And NOT consider that baloney about "new pathways to citizenship" and "non-amnesty amnesties".
