HILLARY FOR SECRETARY OF STATE - IS HE KIDDING?
Morris ^ | 11/14/2008 | dick morris

Hopefully, it's just a rumor started by the Clintonistas, but is Barack Obama seriously considering appointing Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State? If he pulls the trigger on that appointment, he will deserve what he gets!

Obama would do well to remember the history of Harry Truman and Jimmy Byrnes in 1944. Byrnes, known as the "assistant president" in FDR's third term, was widely thought to be Roosevelt's choice to replace Henry Wallace as his running mate on the 1944 ticket. At the last minute, FDR re-considered and decided Byrnes, a South Carolinian, was too conservative and went with Truman instead. But the Democratic Party establishment clearly was disappointed. While they wanted to get rid of the almost-Communist Wallace, they wanted Byrnes not Truman. (Just like the party establishment really wanted Hillary, not Obama, to be the presidential nominee).

So Truman named Byrnes to be his Secretary of State after he took office on Roosevelt's death in 1945. Byrnes, who thought he should have been president, proceeded to make his own foreign policy. He flew to a meeting in Europe with the allied foreign ministers and barely kept President Truman posted on the deliberations. He became a loose cannon who thought he was the president. After a year of this nonsense, Truman fired him and brought in George Marshall to take the job.

‘Obama was running on change? Now he wants to bring back all the old cronies? That’s not change, that’s going backwards.’

This looks like an interesting tactical move regarding 2012. How can Hillary run against Obama if she accepts a role in his cabinet? Swiftboat Sarah, promote Hillary, no popular opposition in 4 years. This guy is already running for reelection...

Why not bring in Hillary? Every weasel he has associated with so far seems to an ex-Clintonista.

The only problem I see is how does Hill challenge him in 2012 while a member of his cabinet?

So....Hillary is going to be Obama’s Ron Brown. Interesing indeed.

It would be a shrewd move on her part. Good pad for the resume and the 2016 Presidential run. She will be 65.

Isn't she 44 now? In 8 years she will be 53, not 65, she would have to be 56 now to be 65 in 2016. She was born in 1964. Besides that she will run for President in 2012 at age 48, and she has all the resume she needs now. Anyone who thinks differently has an agenda that doesn't include her in it.

“I wonder how the anti-war moonbats will react to Hillary the war-monger if she becomes Sec of State? She did vote for the Iraq War.”

Wasn’t that before she voted against it?

Which would you rather have a Clintonista retread or an obama original?

I was expecting a Ron Red Dellums type for SoS.

That whole argument is old hat. The point is that no matter what President Bush did, it was wrong, and no matter what the Obamanation does is correct, even if it is exactly what President Bush did.

Hold it!
Do you all remember when Hillary said she had a “bombshell” back when she was running AGAINST O-boy?
She is now going to employ her blackmail “bombshell” to get exactly what she wants and she’ll always have the power of the “bombshell” at the tip of her tongue tantalizing her fearless ‘ruler’ whenever she wishes.

Oh wait....what is that “bombshell” you ask? Come on! She knows he is not a US citizen! Right? Come to think of it, how many others hungry for power know this and will use it to gain their own power?
PS - no joking here whatsoever. She would not ever have had a reason to use the term “bombshell” unless it really, really mattered, would she?

“Hillary might actually be a good pick. She can harangue and nag the enemy into submission. “We surrender! Just get this wretched harridan out of our faces!””
And if that doesn’t work, she can just show them some leg!

44? Heck, she was older than that when her husband took office in ‘93.

She’s always been eleven years older than me, and she always will be, too. :D

I don’t know, Hillary may be better than other choices Obama could make. Better the devil you know... Who else would Obama pick, who’s for a tougher foreign policy?
