On Nov. 4, 2008 we witnessed a Communist takeover of the U.S. government.

I don't know about that. Sometimes a persons imagination can be his/her own worst enemy, but I do believe people can "sense" when something big is coming or when something doesn't seem right.
In this case, they feel the need to be armed in order to protect themselves from whatever it is they sense. Sometimes, they do know what it is they fear, but the fear is real nevertheless. They "know" something isn't right.

People are also running for comfort food. They want to go back in time when they felt secure. They don't want to face what's coming - whatever it is.

Oh boy, FRiend, my imagination is CERTAINLY my own worst enemy, whether it be things relating to politics or my personal life.
