In 2005, Knoll was forced to apologize to the family of a Marine killed in Iraq for showing up uninvited for his funeral and giving out a business card. Family members said she made a remark about "our government" being against the war. A Republican is now Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania.

That’s really too bad.
It’s also too bad with the manner in which she approached the family whose son was killed in Iraq. What was unfortunate was that her actions (taking the time to go to the funerals) was lost in the furor of what she said. I hate to hear that anyone has died from cancer.

Prayers to the family. It's encouraging to see FReepers showing more class than was common for the woman herself.

Rendell would never take it. No way would he let Republicans take over this state. I think (sorry I dont know for sure) we’ve got a majority in the state senate. It’s very slim though.

A Republican is now Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania. Yes, it's Joseph B. ("Joe") Scarnati III.
(aka "Joe the Lieutenant Governor")

Of course, Rendell’s interests might lie in PA. Would he really want a cabinet position?

CBK was always interesting, if nothing else.
Probably a good person at heart, with a very human side—in both good and bad senses.

I’m a PA resident, and I’m just hearing it now on FreeRepublic!
I gave up watching local media propaganda, and this is a result.

Would he really want a cabinet position? That is a different question. The idea that he would refrain out of a spirit of self sacrifice is pretty bizarre though.

I feel for her family..God Bless. But as individuals we need to realize this country is in serious trouble...is it worth fighting for? MS Knoll wasn't of right mind of what is best for this country. Good luck in the great beyond. We are fighting for survival folks, we can't shed to many tears...yes we are at that point...thanks for the selfish vote America...
