“...“Obama is a decent guy”.......”

I was seriously put-off by that comment too...How can a person be “decent” when they are in a position of authority, such as a legislator, and repeatedly vote to terminate the life of infants, and then also DENY the right of self-defense to other people?

So how, then, can someone who calls themself a “conservative” make THAT connection?

In order to believe that someone like that is “decent”, you have to be able to hold and agree with two diamtrically-opposing viewpoints. Which, would seem to me, to be the defintion of clinical insanity...or abject and total hypocrisy, or a little of both.

Here's another illustration....and I'm trying to keep this impersonal, but mccainvoterinobamaville is simply a good example.

It says -

But I thought outlawing guns would stop all crime from happening because we all know guns is the only thing that ever kills people (sarc).

"Let me id myself as someone who would never own a gun but would defend to the end the right to own one."

My question to people with this attitude is, "WHAT are you going to defend my Constitutional right with?" ...if you will NEVER own a gun? Are you going to use a sharp stick? We've got a small arsenal here, and I can assure you that sticks, knives, bows and arrows, and slingshots are poor deterrants against evil doers armed with firearms.

It seems like I might be splitting hairs here, because we all know people who don't own firearms, but note the poor logic here. The liberal acknowledges a problem with crime (evil) in the world, and speaks a word against anti-self-defense laws, and even tells us that they will defend our rights. But they don't go so far as to actually PROCURE the weapon and therefore enable themselves to quantify their willingness to defend. In other words, no matter how sincere the statement is, it's false and flawed from the start. It's a contradictory statement!

...and this is liberalism at its core. It's the acknowledgment of the current state of the world, but a reaction to a CORRECT observation that simply makes ZERO sense in the scope of the real problem. This is why liberals are so ineffective. It makes everybody "feel" better, but does absolutely NOTHING for the situation. Such is the case with people who say they support our right to bear arms. It makes us feel good, but performs NO useful function. But then again, that pretty much sums up liberalism.
