What The Stock Market Is Saying
townhall.com ^ | November 12, 2008 | Philip D. Nathanson

The stock market is sending two messages. First, it is voting no confidence in the bloated "New Deal" remedies of Ben Bernanke, Henry Paulson and Congress that are causing an economic downturn. Second, it is saying that the real economic cost of the bailout will be much greater than the projected $700 billion in direct expenditures. We face years of government interference via credit allocation, pay scale determination and a host of explicit and implicit new regulations. All will lead to a massive mis-allocation of resources. The U.S. stock market has fallen about $5 trillion in value the past two months. This is its estimate of the direct and indirect costs of the current "rescue" program.

The Administration didn't do that. The Democrat Congress passed the relevant legislation back during the Clinton regime. Later the ol'gal who invited AlQaida to attack us, as well as several of Obama's personal friends and close political confidants acted to force banks to give away 10% of their money to people who had no hope of paying it back.

This economic distress is the result of a two decade long Democrat conspiracy to undermine our economy and buy votes.

They succeeded, now we have to make sure they are blamed for it.

It's the Obama Depression!

By the time Jan 20 comes around, at the rate we are descending into a collectivism under GWB the US will already be a socialist state in the midst of a depression.

That’s...................depressing.

About that wealth that 0bama wants to spread around: it evaporated.

Isn't the irony delicious? The commies have been salivating for almost 100 years to get their hands on American wealth. Finally, they steal their best boy an entire presidential election, bust into the Treasury, and surprise! It's full of IOUs. Absolutely hilarious.

The cities will be destroyed. What exactly is the downside to that?I’m only half kidding.

Finally we can start building a home for real capitalism.

Attempting to sell the union as an antidote to government interference is a hard sale. Each has the same goal - to destroy free enterprise. It just depends on whether you want to get your marching orders from Washington or Union Headquarters.

UPS may be doing OK, I don’t know but the postal service is not a good example of success. Prices go up almost faster than you can buy stamps.

The Airlines, the auto industry, and most large manufacturing are unionized. How are they doing?

USPS is an incredibly instructive example. Owned by the government it provides the cheapest postal services in the world and it breaks even.

It is almost totally unionized.

As you might have guessed by now I do not consider the US government a "model employer".

Unfortuntately, there is no United States to flee to after the republicrats and democans have socialized our nation. There is not a dimes worth of difference between Bush’s republican party and Obama’s democrat party. Goldman Sachs and Wall Street honcos run both parties. They long ago tossed financial truths and capitalism into the trash as they line up at the Treasury for the taxpayer’s money.

It is really unbelievable how low this nation has sunk in the last 3 months with “compassionate”, “leftists” in charge of our economy for the last 20 years.

What you are describing is the progress the Communists have mad in taking over this country. Communist goal number fifteen is this: 15) Capture one or both of the political parties in the US
.

They dominate the Democrat Party and have made inroads in the Republican Party. We must rebel and move fast before they can implement complete control of all of us. Here are the last of their goals. (Number 37 also deals with your comment.)

16) Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions, by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17) Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for Socialism, and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in text books.

18) Gain control of all student newspapers

19) Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack

.
20) Infiltrate the press. Get control of book review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.

21) Gain control of key positions in radio, TV & motion pictures.

22) Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings", substitute shapeless, awkward, and meaningless forms.

23) Control art critics and directors of art museums. " Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art".

24) Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press

.
25) Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography, and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV.

26) Present Homosexuality, degeneracy, and promiscuity as "normal, natural, and healthy".

27) Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch"

28) Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state"

29) Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30) Discredit the American founding fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man"

.
31) Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of "the big picture:" Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communiststook over.

32) Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture - - education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc

.
33) Eliminate all laws or procedures, which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34) Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35) Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI

36) Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37) Infiltrate and gain control of big business

38) Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat

.
39) Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40) Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41) Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42) Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special interest groups should rise up and make a "united force" to solve economic, political,or social problems.

43) Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44) Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45) Repeal the Connally Reservation so the US can not prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

How are they doing?

Time to rise up on our haunches and push them back!!

I am not sure citing a company that has no true competition, is "too big to fail", and can raise prices at will is a good example.

:-)

USPS cannot raise prices at will. It is tightly regulated by the Postal Rate Commission, a totally separate regulatory body. Plus, there’s always Congress.

investors are not willing to wait to show their concern about the new Marxist policies which will begin to take effect once Obama is sworn in.

A rule of thumb suggests that the market reveals what investors think will be happening about six months down the road.

Clearly, we are in for a stretch of some very bad road.

Seen many such lists before. All suffer from the error of crediting Commies with having a full thought process that can look ahead 5 or 6 steps.

Right, and because we made the right decisions (I liquidated all real estate and stocks 12-15 months ago.)

Now, we’re going to get screwed a) because we’re going to have to pay higher taxes to fund the people who lost money due to poor investments and b) eventually suffer high inflation due to the new dollars they will eventually have to print, so our cash is becoming worthless.

Plus, the Fed Gov’t is now a huge equity partner in our largest financial co’s? Good Night!

Who will save us?

If we are to be 'saved', it will be citizens of a once free country who 'remember' what freedom once was. Many nations are doing their best to destroy us, but the greatest of these destroyers are some in the USA.

We have built a highly integrated set of systems which require all to function reasonably well for the entire set of systems to function well. The banking system is much like the circulatory system in biologic systems. Without a reasonably well functioning banking system all systems which rely on credit (debt) to carry on the day to day activities of buisness become starved for the oxygen of buisness. In order to have arrived at this point, beyond the point of no return, means the dependency state of downstream buisness needed to become completely dependent on banking. So, in the ninties, investment banks were unleased with 'permission' to leverege up 30, 40, 50, and at times in excess of 100 times assets. This allowed the banks to 'service' the needs of their customers. As long as the leverege was allowed and no questions asked about the 'phantom' money which bought 'things' and sold 'things' for profit everything was fine.

But think for a moment about what the banks were buying (investing in). They are bankers.....of all folks they need to have their purchases securitized.....so some friendly bankers at Morgan Stanley 'thought up' the idea of over the counter derivitives...that is a pieces of paper, unregulated, between the parties, which "guaranteed" against loss. Those little pieces of paper, with ink on them, was what securitized the purchaces,....not buildings, not T-bills, not real estate, not buisnesses.....little pieces of paper with ink on them....that is all. Under the self imposed delusion, the bankers 'created' security. Except when Lehmans failed and turned to AIG which held little pieces of paper as security for Lehman, AIG said, "Ooops, we got no money to cover your losses." Badda-bing, badda-bang. AIG is immediately bankrupted and Paulson stood there with an $85 billion check to stop all other banks (Hundreds of them, and buisnesses, and other insurance companies, etc. which AIG had written securitization agreements) from going immediately the way of Lehmans.

Paulson stood there and stopped the 'nuclear trigger' which had begun the nuclear chain reaaction of failure of all those banks which resided downstream from AIG. That is why AIG believes it holds Uncle Sams nutsack in the clutches of their hands and has come back to the trough to demand 2 more massive 'injections of capital'. If Paulson and Bernanke- had not granted those monies, scores, if not hundreds of banks would have failed since that infamous day, Sept. 15,2008, when Lehmans was sacrified. Yes, I said sacrificed with the plans to create such havock that it would propell us toward a one world government. As you must know Sarkozy has said as much. So has Paulson and Bush. I believe they did not anticipate the velocity of destruction which began to manifest itself.

We are in the midphase of watching our republics' demise. You ask who will get us out of this. Only ourselves who understand what is at stake could have once saved us. And what is at stake is Freedom. The very freedom we demanded at Concord Bridge, at the Battle of Long Island, at the Boston Tea Party, at the Battle of the Buldge, Normandy, the Battle of Bagdad. The right for your children and my children to be free to use their minds and their hands to forge the kind of life they choose to make. I believe forces beyond our ability to correct have been working for decades to create an electorate who has chosen to be enslaved, if they are offered a subsitance wage. Where is the love of freedom exemplified in our recent election of a Marxist? He got more than 50% of the vote. A complicitous media and a very good speaker was all it took to convince the people that they should lay down and give up precious freedom for the tyranny to come. And it is coming with a vengence. I do not know how freedom will be recaptured once power is handed to this Marxist man. We are the overripe fruit which hangs low for socialism to woo.

If we are to be saved, we must reinfuse every man, woman, and child with a love for Freedom and a desire to destroy tyranny over the minds of men. I fear that order is much too tall for this society to accept. We want what we want, and we want it now.

Who will save us.......nonone but God Himself can save us from what is to come upon this nation...and very, very soon.

They are not being wasted. By removing mature trees from the stock that makes more room for more faster growing young trees.

At the same time Standard Rate mail makes it possible to handle Preferential mail classes (Periodicals, First-Class, Priority and Express) at lower unit cost.

Your entire post is excellent. You see exactly what is going on. I selected this part to emphasis.

I do not know how freedom will be recaptured once power is handed to this Marxist man. We are the overripe fruit which hangs low for socialism to woo.

Our only chance is to rebel against that immediately. We must flood the media and our Congressmen with our concerns . Only the numbers of those of us who don't agree with this will matter. If that fails we must remember the words of RWR about rebelling against tyranny, "What can they do, hang us from a higher tree?"
