UN Affiliated Atheist Group Launches Ad Campaign Targeting God and Christmas
In God We Trust ^ | November 11, 2008 | In God We Trust

Posted on 11/12/2008 6:35:41 AM PST by GOPToad

The national advocacy group In God We Trust today blasted the atheist American Humanist Association for its ad campaign mocking the Christmas holiday and American's who believe in God. The ad campaign asks, "Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness sake," and will be targeted at New York and Washington commuters.

"These ads are a deliberate attack on American traditions, beliefs and customs by a United Nation's affiliated group that espouses a radical anti-American agenda and is funded by an zealot who believes that the U.S. is a backwards nation full of imbeciles," says In God We Trust Chairman Council Nedd.

If it is an affiliate of the UN, then I would say it violates the separation of Church and State. The UN is a “State” level department. Our government appoints delegates.

I have wondered why this secularist-religion group did not use the temr “allah’ in their messages

“Why believe in allah (small a)? Just be good for goodness sake”

Imagine that riding around on the side of DC metro and NYC transit buses? Maybe someone imgainative will get busy with some spray paint.

they are putting these ads on city buses as moving billboards
most commuters have no choice about boycotting city buses
I believe this was well thought out

There’s another problem in that atheism and evolutionism almost have to travel together and evolution has been totally disproved. The big dialectic is evolution vs modern mathematics and probability theory and not evolution vs religion. To have a dialectic between evolution and religion you’d need (for an apples/apples comparison) a religion which operated on an intellectual level similar to that of evolution and the only plausible candidates would be Voodoo, Rastafari, and Santeria.

Ever notice that atheists are always on the attack because they have no defences? They can nitpick spelling errors in a desperate attempt to prove themselves superior to the common masses, but they really only show their insecurity with such attacks.

We sinners are naturally hostile to God. I'm so glad He chose to love us despite our hostility and provided a path back into fellowship with Him. Would that those who call themselves 'atheists' recognize that their hostility to God is not a disbelief in Him, but (usually) a misdirected anger toward Him over pain in their life.

We need to always remember that God owes us nothing - we ought to be in Hell right now by default. So we ought to be thankful for how good we have it on earth, instead of whining that we aren't in Heaven on some kind of divine liberal welfare program.

Problem is, without God, nobody really knows what ‘good’ is.

I don't seem to have a problem figuring out how to keep on people's good side and stay out of trouble.

This is just a competing idea in the marketplace of ideas. Churches advertise all the time to get people from one religion to another, or to attract people who really don't have any firm religious faith. Let them spend their money any way they want to.

From the americanhumanist.org site:

Humanists Launch Godless Holiday Campaign

On their association with the UN:

"As we continue to promote the cause of Humanism at the United Nations, we call for the renewed dedication of the AHA and its members, to "think globally and act locally." And to renew our efforts to inform and urge Congress to act wisely, logically and heroically to restore the United States to the world stage in a position of leadership instead of one of belligerence and diplomatic isolation." Link here

In other words, American Humanist Association lobby the UN to incorporate their ideals, they are completely independent of the United Nations.

This is the Oprah world view...all roads lead to God...

Relative moralism and no absolute truth is the way of the humanists.

without God, nobody really knows what ‘good’ is

You'll find that those that define right and wrong for themselves always seem to fit that definition with how they are living anyway.

I’ve talked to one of these Opraians -

Jesus really didn’t mean it when He said:
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Relative moralism and no absolute truth is the way of the humanists.

Your problem as a religionist is figuring out precisely which of the hundreds of thousands of religions in the world has the EXACT truth. You have no more skills to do this than I do in figuring out the right thing to do.
