For those of you who don't live in the SF Bay Area or within the range of KGO (50,000Watt), Karel was a semi-regular talk show host the station. I cannot stand this guy-not because he was a homosexual but because he in my opinion is a terrible talk show host. He was only on in time frames where not many people listen. He would cut off callers when they started to get the better of him in an argument. His shows were not very interesting at all.
I don't like talk show hosts getting the boot for what they have said and anyone can make a stupid remark when you think others are not listening. This is even though you are taught that the microphone is always on.
I would have preferred that Karel was taken off for low ratings. KGO may have been looking for a reason to can him. I hope KGO comes to its senses and starts to hire some good talent. It use to be a great radio station. It was about as fair and down the middle as you were going to get. In the last 10 years of so they moved to the left. That's probably because they were chasing listeners due to the emergence of two conservative radio stations who siphoned off a lot of their listeners.

Ditto that...he used to be on KFI in LA years ago...he is a TERRIBLE talk show hose, regardless of his political leanings. I have a hunch he was only given so much latitude on KFI for so long because Bill Handel is such a homo lover.

I think there are more than two conservative stations now. We got 560, 860, and 910. And I’m thinking there was another one but I can’t recall the dial number or call letters.

I believe that KGO and KSFO are both owned by Disney. Jack Swanson (husband of Melanie Morgan) was the program director for KSFO. My impression of KGO has been that it was packed with liberals, while KSFO (”Hot Talk 560”) covers the conservative market. The studio space for the two stations share a building, and Lee Rodgers - part of the morning team on KSFO - used to refer to “the call-letter-deficient station down the hall.”
