The Federal Election Commission is unlikely to conduct a potentially embarrassing audit of how Barack Obama raised and spent his presidential campaigns record-shattering windfall, despite allegations of questionable donations and accounting that had the McCain campaign crying foul.
Adding insult to injury for Republicans: The FEC is obligated to complete a rigorous audit of McCains campaign coffers, which will take months, if not years, and cost McCain millions of dollars to defend.

A good point, certainly for the campaign expenditures.
However, do public funds go toward McCain's DEFENCE of his accounting methods? I do not know, could any Freeper enlighten me?
My comment was regarding the cost of legal defense by McCain.
Bush vigorously appoints special prosecutors..................when the targets are conservatives, real Republicans, and loyalists.
Oligarchy by puppet.
There is no law too big to break to force this Marxist down our throats. Our Courts, Congress and entire government is now a total joke.
Why would anybody take public funding if they could do what 0bama did with illegal contributions from the US (I would love to know how much Soros and moveon.org pumped into 0bama’s campaign) and from overseas (all of which was illegal and totalled as much as $75 million — almost as much as public funding provided to McCain).
The FEC should as a matter of practice audit each candidate’s campaign spending. This is the time to get the illegal money on the table.
I totally agree with this. There is no way his campaign could have functioned as efficiently as it did. There is a lot of power and money behind Obama.
Probably the international Communists trying to rule the world. (Most likely Satan himself)
