Obama's Cabinet: Start With Al Gore

Obama's Cabinet: Start With Al Gore __

By Richard Cohen Tuesday, November 11, 2008; A19

If there is a single appointment Barack Obama could make to signal how dramatically things will change in Washington, it would be to name Albert Gore Jr. -- former House member, former senator, former vice president, former presidential nominee and current Custodian of the Planet -- as secretary of state. For all the other aspirants to the job, sorry -- this is an inconvenient truth.

Can you imagine a bolder statement about a new direction when it comes to global warming and the general care of our abused planet? Gore has won a Nobel Peace Prize for his work in this area (and an Oscar, to boot), and his appointment would signal a dramatic shift from the indifference of the Bush era with its cold shoulder to the Kyoto treaty. In one stroke, the United States would emerge as the leader of nations in the effort to save the planet from ourselves -- and could prepare for the consequences of a changed world.

The new president's urgent priority has to be the economy. He has no other choice. But given that Obama has no foreign policy background, he needs a secretary of state who can really run the nation's foreign affairs while the attention of the White House is largely directed elsewhere. Others are capable of handling the job, including, of course, Sen. John Kerry, who is being mentioned. But Gore has as much experience and something else as well -- he was right on the Persian Gulf War (voted yes) and right on the Iraq war (like Obama, he opposed it from the start).

Moving on in the Cabinet, my next choice is Lawrence Summers for Treasury secretary.

Gore has at least one strike against him. He’s a dope.

I heard from an insider that after inventing the Office of the President Elect The One has decided to use Office Of the President Staff instead of Cabinet. It’s kind of perfect because this administration is going to be saying OOPS everytime they make a decision.

Didn't he vote yes on the Persian Gulf War only because Dole gave him more time to speak before the vote? And he surely was against the Iraq War solely because Bush was President. Such an unpricipled POS. He'd fit right in with an 0bama administration.

Barry’s appointment of Clinton retreads shows how insecure he is feeling right now. There is nothing bold or new about the man. He’s going to preside over the “Present” presidency.

This guy Cohen is nutso! No way, no how Obama would piss off so many people by appointing “Manbearpig” to anything dealing with his presidency. I get bored just seeing his face, let alone hear him speak.

Maybe king of Powerpoint presentations, maybe.

[Almost satire......... ]

I am frightened to admit Gore Should be brought in. Only if the lunatic fringe is exposed to the light do we have a chance of crushing them. Incrementalism is the threat.

“the same Democrat Failed Policies” should become our Mantra for next four years.

If nothing else, this administration will be amusing!

For the next four years I intend to laugh long, hard and often at every Obamaiac that dares asks "what happened?"

It will be refreshing not to be on the defensive for a while.

.At least TN has momentarily repented..

Tennessee has repented for her sin of foisting this horror in office and has began serving penitence by NOT voting for her native son(ugh) in 2000 (saving the nation from President Gore) and continues so in electing both senators in the GOP column and voting strongly for the GOP candidate. We are faithfully penitent and hopefully will remain so.

I was thinking of making Louis Farrakhan Head of CIA or FBI since he’s so used to them watching him all the time...

Even though Kerry seems like a joke to many people, Obama has to let him into the cabinet if he wants in. The reasons are:

1. Kerry supported Obama very early in the campaign.
2. Kerry invited Obama to give the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic convention. You could argue that without this opportunity, Obama would not be president.

If Obama does this, it will be delightful to see the leftards do their backflips - they will be forced to praise every appointment that Obama makes, in the same way that North Koreans praise every dump that their great leader takes - and past reports of legions of leftist harridans hounding Summers out of Harvard will disappear down the memory hole quicker than a victim of Stalin's purges disappears from the official photos...
