This Is Not The Machine You Are Looking For
If you've read my Integrity Gap series on Barack Obama, or lengthier treatments like David Freddoso's book, you will be familiar with what was probably the most scandalously under-reported story of 2008, which is President-Elect Obama's deep and longstanding ties to machine politics in Illinois, most notably to the Daley machine in Chicago.
You'll also recognize two other key themes: Obama's ties to politically well-connected housing interests ranging from slumlords like Tony Rezko to Beltway powerhouses like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to ACORN, and Obama's practice of providing official favors to his benefactors.
Last week we saw the first sign of these dynamics playing out in Obama's first staff hire, Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, a Chicago pol and former "senior adviser and chief fundraiser" for Mayor Daley who made hundreds of thousands of dollars sitting on Freddie Mac's board during a time when the board was criticized by the SEC for failing to stop the company's accounting irregularities and shady campaign donations. * *
Now, the second act:
Obama reportedly wants Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a/k/a "Public Official A" in the Rezko indictment, to appoint as his replacement in the U.S. Senate Valerie Jarrett, the co-head of Obama's transition team.
Jarrett, of course, is a former Daley aide and Chicago housing developer who gave Michelle Obama her first big job working for Mayor Daley.
Let's recall Jarrett's involvement in Grove Parc Plaza, one of the conspicuous failures (at least from the perspective of the tenants, rather than the developers) among the housing projects built by Obama's friends:
Among those tied to Obama politically, personally, or professionally are:
Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to Obama's presidential campaign and a member of his finance committee.
Jarrett is the chief executive of Habitat Co., which managed Grove Parc Plaza from 2001 until this winter and co-managed an even larger subsidized complex in Chicago that was seized by the federal government in 2006, after city inspectors found widespread problems.
+++
Campaign finance records show that six prominent developers - including Jarrett, Davis, and Rezko - collectively contributed more than $175,000 to Obama's campaigns over the last decade and raised hundreds of thousands more from other donors.
+++
Jarrett, a powerful figure in the Chicago development community, agreed to be interviewed but declined to answer questions about Grove Parc, citing what she called a continuing duty to Habitat's former business partners....
Yet again, a reminder that Obama's "new politics" is just a new name for the oldest kind of politics there is.

"This is a guy [Bill Ayers] who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English..."
### Monday, November 10, 2008 Ayers & Wright Make Appearance At Northwestern University
~~~
Rev. G-D AmeriKKKa Wright was given a standing ovation. Terrorist Bill Ayers came out to hear him speak.
Black students and faculty gave Rev. Jeremiah Wright a standing ovation at the the Cahn Auditorium podium on Friday to deliver his keynote address.
North By Northwestern and The Politico reported:
Rev. Jeremiah Wright had offered the audience nothing more than a slight slouch and the occasional grin, but his very presence was enough to garner him two long, roaring standing ovations by the time he walked up to the Cahn Auditorium podium on Friday to deliver his keynote address.
FMO unashamedly and unapologetically stands in support of Rev. Wright,
For Members Only Coordinator Zachary Parker had told a loudly cheering crowd. Parker was referring to Northwesterns decision to rescind their offer of an honorary degree to Wright after his sermons made national headlines because of his ties to presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.
...Donning a brown and black African-pattern vest and carrying a black binder to the podium, Wright offered up just some points of clarification about the forces that had thrust him into the national spotlight.
His God damn America sermon? A white professor at Harvard said a similar thing in 1901. The first ever election of a black President? Incredibly powerful and awesomely inspiring. Unfair treatment from the media? Ray Charles can see that.
Bill Ayers came out to hear Wright at the event.
The Democrats BOUGHT VOTES and padded thier pockets with Mortgages based on race, FORCING banks to accept them. Now the ENTIRE PLANET faces a depression that could be worse than the 30’s.
Meanwhile, the sheeple put these SAME WOLVES in charge of the Whitehouse henhouse, expecting egg production to INCREASE.
Our children will never forgive us for what’s coming, and we DESERVE every bit of it, for allowing Dem Socialist Propoganda to rule the day.
Can't forget another Chicago dude, the Mayor's brother, William (Bill) Daley, who is on the transition team. He's the bald head closest to you in this photo.
Transition President-elect Barack Obama has named John Podesta, Valerie Jarrett and Pete Rauss co-chairs of his transition team. He has also named William Daley, Carol Browner, Federico Pena and Janet Napolitano to his advisory panel. Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel has been offered the job of White House chief of staff.
huffpost is reporting that Valerie Jarrett will NOT be named the IL senatorial replacement .. BO has to have her in the WH. I wondered if she'd give up the WH for Springfield, IL.
Too bad Hannity, Limbaugh, and most of the other conservative commentators never informed their audiences that the Weather Underground were linked with the 'Black Liberation Movement' in communist revolution. Hannity would only refer to the WU as "domestic terrorists". They should have made this powerful connection between the two (Wright's thing, and Ayers's thing) known to more people. Anyway, it's certainly not too late to do it now.
"Their founding document [the Weather Underground's] called for the establishment of a "white fighting force" to be allied with the "Black Liberation Movement" and other "anti-colonial" movements[1] to achieve "the destruction of US imperialism and the achievement of a classless world: world communism."..."-Berger, Dan (2006). "they [the Weather Underground] employed revolutionary jargon, advocated armed struggle and black liberation and began bombing buildings, taking responsibility for at least 20 attacks. Estimates of their number ranged at times from several dozen to several hundred."
Whatever idiot(s)that gave Obama the go ahead to run did not do it to bring peace in America or the world. I am convinced of that.
I can’t believe that people would actually approve the people that were directly involved with their losing their homes. I am sure a lot of Obama voters lost their’s or are on the verge of losing it.
This is more than buring one’s head in the sand. It’s absurd.
YOU could build Ritz-Carlton style Housing in 'some' neighborhoods, have it guarded 24/7 by Navy Seals and Army Rangers -- and in one week you'd be a 'slumlord' too.
I'm sorry but these people aren't civilized. They will destroy anything and everything. Even getting the building finished is a chore. Tools get stolen every night, walls destroyed, 'stuff' ripped down, etc. and this is with a locked-fenced site, and a 'guard'. (what's an old guy with a radio going to against the Gangster Disciples?)
I know one contractor who has a standing, open order, with the City of Chicago to repair and/or replace the Heating Boilers in two buildings every year. They should last 20 years min.
