Excerpts from Sarah Palin's Interview With Fox News

On accusations of her going rogue during the campaign: So, as days went on, it was good, it was fine. But being quite independent, just like John McCain is also, yes, maybe there is some characterizing of me going rogue when once in a while I would say something that -- hey, I said it from the heart. I believed in going off script once in a while in some of the rallies in order to really reiterate, perhaps, something that I believed about John McCain.
Maybe it wasn't written in the script, but so what. Geez, if this is all going to be so scripted and kind of like a movie screen and we have to follow verbatim everything that somebody writes for you, I don't want any part of that. That's not who I am and that's not who John McCain is either.
So, if I went off script once in a while, I can't for the life of me remember any one time where it would have harmed him, or the ticket. So I don't regret it.

I do not believe Geez is a derivitive of Jesus- do you have a source for that?
Ping to #106.
My grandmother was very religious and she said golly gee whilikers when upset and would shorten that to geez at times.
My grandmother (85) is very religious, and she says "geez" is a shortened form of Jesus' name.
Do you give no credit to dads being able to care for children?
Dads can and should care for children in many ways, but there are some things they just can't do like a mommy can. Take breast-feeding for example. From what I've heard, dads totally stink at breast-feeding.

Recall that our Savior said, What comes out of a persons mouth does not defile them, but what is in the heart. (Paraphrased a bit)
That's not paraphrased. It's distorted. Jesus said, "It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man" (Matthew 15:11).

Did you send her an email on that?
No, but maybe she'll read it here.

Sarah Palin is amazing and there is no good reason to slander her in such ways.
As one who presumably shares much of her Pentecostal theology, I consider her an embarrassment. That's my honest opinion. It's clearly not slander.

Todd Palin is perfectly capable of taking care of his own children, as their father, whenever necessary.
Maybe, but he's obviously not capable of taking care of them as their mother.

I thought “geez” was short for “gee whiz”.

Have either of you heard of an etymological dictionary?

True, but I doubt that millions of Minnesotans, Canadians, Alaskans and others who use the expression every day are at all conscious of the etymology of geez. Perhaps the Sarah bashers might be well served by undertaking an extended campaign to the North country to instruct the poor souls up there in order to correct this widespread language crime.
I live in the Dakotas, and I'm doing the best I can. :-)

I believe anyone who has used it would be as surprised as I was to learn the root etymological meaning and would not have used it had they known.
You're probably giving them too much credit. I think you're the only one to apologize so far.

As a Roman-Catholic who subscribes to God's theology I believe Gov Palin to be an outstanding example of a Christian. Unlike Kurt Evans she doesn't wear the cloak of hypocrisy and pretense.
Are you suggesting I'm not perfect like you and Sarah and the pope are?

“You’re probably giving them too much credit. I think you’re the only one to apologize so far.”
Do you think that Sarah knew the stymological meaning and used the word “geez” anyway? I don’t!
