He is a very nice man from what I’ve seen. I don’t know that chairing the MD GOP is high praise, however, they are a very blue state last I checked, we need someone who can turn blue to red and do it quickly. My only qualm with Newt is I would want to talk to him and ask him if he is ready to shed bi-partisan crap and go for the juglar...

I’ve contributed... and I think the mailing list her has amassed from his drill here, drill now program is a huge asset to the GOP to start utilizing the internet and competing with Obama in that regard... I’m not certain, but Newt has been all over internet-related issues like electronic prescribing, etc, so unlike our current RNC leader he has an understanding of how important this is.

He’s been pretty conservative as of late and is the only person who can make Bill Maher’s show watchable...he takes on the libtards on their own turf.

I’d be happy with either one though.

I agee, each has pluses and each has minuses, I could live with either one, but I want a real SOB in this job... I “think” NEWT is more of an SOB than Steele.. and I mean that in a good way in this case.

That, IMHO, would give us the best of both... and this job is so huge, so daunting, and we are so far down this would really fly well with me... who do we suggest this to?

I think Michael Steele would be an excellent choice.

I don't know much about Steele.

Know too much about Newt.

“EXCLUSIVE: Gingrich, Steele duel for RNC chair”

Swell. Steele whined like a typical race baiter at the RNC because blacks weren’t represented enough. Yes, he did, there is a video.

And Newt...wants AMENESTY...yes he does, why else would he have signed his name to a WSJ letter saying so??? And there’s that global warming thing he is so enamored with.

This is just more of the same. Don’t fall for it again.

“Didn’t Newt want to cosponsor Hillary’s Health Care Plan?

Didn’t Newt support “illegal amnesty”?

Didn’t Newt support “global warming”?

Just asking, I’m not sure memory serves me right.”

Yes, yes, and yes, but no one is paying attention!

I think Steele would be great as a General RNC Chairman because he can be a spokesman without the baggage. Mr. Newt could be effective at managing the day-to-day operations and not as much face time. WHo I could suggest this to, I don’t know; but isn’t this a great idea?

Can they be co chairs? IMHO we would be good to have both because I don’t think I could choose between the two of them.

I had the pleasure to hear Newt Gingrich speak followed by a Q&A at Johns Hopkins in Maryland two years ago. The man was very impressive. He batted down naysayers and bombthrowers with ease - turned their own arguments on them and made them look supremely foolish. I can tell you he is more than an idea man - they guy has got superb chops and thinks on his feet pronto.

And wasn’t it Steele who introduced Republicans to the “Drill, Baby, Drill” theme during his convention speech this year?

I like the idea of sharing.. I don’t mind listening to Newt, his mind fascinates me, but Steele has a lot of charisma and is very likeable... and now I see Fred Thompson wants to run for RNC as well... oh my!

I tend to agree with you about Newt. But Michael Steele would do a great job too.

Wrong. Steele is a conservative by any region’s measure. In Maryland, he is a stellar conservative. I should know. I live here.

Steele was wonderful on Fox - Would be great in the Senate but we also need him as a party spokesman. Newt did a great job in the House - no telling where the party would be now had it not been for Newt’s vision.

Oh, heck - they are both great!!!

Steele would be great as a spokesperson but I’d have to give the edge to Newt for his record of ideas to become the GOP’s main strategist.

We need both of them.
