The country is collapsing even as we speak. Nero is fiddling, and Obama is conspiring to take it over as complete dictator...........
I have been wondering for years why DHL is bothering with the US market anymore. They are being squeezed out, little by little, by FedEx and UPS. They should have cut their losses a long time ago.
Their few remaining customers will throw out the DHL order pad and and get a new UPS order pad and will not miss a beat.
not surprising.
where i live dhl could not compete with ups and kinko’s fedex.
How does the inability of the German post office to compete domestically with FedEx or UPS result in the collapse of our country?
More like DHL was a fraud and needed to be shut down anyway. The horror stories of that company are legendary, like they don’t send to 70% of the country so they would drop packages into USPS (US Mail) to finish their journey, arriving days late for overnight packages.
I wasn’t referring to them specifically, I was just pointing to the economy in general..............
True. This news, while bad for DHL, is really just another example of the Invisible Hand at work. Not a doom'N'gloomer at all. It had to happen.
“When it absolutely, positively, has to be there....sometime or ‘nother in the future......”
It doesn't - drama queen stuff...
My company uses DHL and their service is marginal at best. They lose things frequently, or they’re damaged in transit.
FedEx rarely if ever a problem.
Uh, I don’t like Obama neither, but blaming the US collapse of DHL on Obama, or to say that it is indicative of the collapse of our country, is stupid. Who cares if a foreign company is pushed out of the US, by superior US companies? IT’S A GOOD THING. To echo some other comments made here: do you have any idea how incompetent DHL’s service was? Absolute nightmare to deal with their “service.” Personally, I say good riddance: my small business suffered every time I had to broker anything DHL-related (always initiated by a third party BTW).
Aw crud, guess where I work. These are 9500 American job losses we are talking about folks
Few things are more excruiating than speaking to DHL “customer service” and having them flat-out LIE to you about how many attempted deliveries they’ve done, where the package is exactly - I could go on and on. Once a DHL CSR had the nerve to tell me that they had “attempted delivery” to my address that day, when I HAD BEEN IN THE OFFICE THE WHOLE TIME!!! I ended up having to drive 20 minutes to their depot (where I had to wait for the package to “recirculate” back there). Nightmare of a company.
Ah, that sucks Bill. It’s unfortunate that DHL didn’t have better infrastructure in the US - it would have saved the company, its customers, and now, employees like you, a ton of grief and misery. Good luck with the job hunt.
Sorry to hear it. Maybe UPS will take you on during the silly season.
I didn’t blame it on Obama, I just inferred that he would take advantage of the situation for his own reasons and not for the good of the country. As for DHL, they are the victim of their own bad management, which is the way that a free economy is supposed to work. It rewards good management and punishes bad. Foreign investment is a good thing for everybody........
Sorry, Bill! : ( My ex husband works there, and while my child support isn’t a huge amount, it’s still enough to require some serious budget cuts.
He was there 13 years. They were actually decent when they were Airborne Express.
Oh so it was a non-sequitur. Okay, just declare that next time or something - as you can see it just confuses people otherwise.
