Election spurs a run on guns

Business is booming for local gun dealers.

Propelled by concerns over the election of Barack Obama and Democratic control of the U.S. House and Senate, guns are flying off the shelf at a record rate, said Craig Ball, manager of Impact Guns, 2710 S. 1900 West.

"We're selling every one we can get, and it's not just here, it's all over the country," he said. "We've had standing orders for these for months, and right now all the distributors nationwide are out. Everyone's snapping them (guns) up."

Ball said Wednesday was the busiest day he's ever seen at the Ogden store.

Customers have been particularly interested in black rifles such as the AR-15 and the M4, Ball said. He estimated the store sold about 50 of the rifles on Wednesday alone.

"Everybody's nervous, everybody understands," he said. "A lot of them remember the Clinton gun ban, and they think it's going to come again, and worse."

Friend of mine went on an ammo buying trip to the closest Walmart, 150 miles away, last week. This is in Homestead, Florida. Over 60 minute wait in line to buy. He brought home 400, 12 gauge shells for me. :-)

i’m nervous because guns won’t defend from bombs and all kinds of other ideas that Obama’s terrorist friends have in mind.

They put their agenda on http://www.change.gov then took it down, guess they were getting too much heat.
You can find the cache at

http://www.tinyurl.com/5gznwl

Down near the bottom of the page:
Ban assault weapons permanently
Close gun show loop hole
Make gun traces available to anyone
Be able to sue manufacturers when their product is misused

He is going to “RULE” by Executive Order not “Govern” by the will of the people

Remember - If it is time to bury them, it is time to dig them up!

True, but it will defend you against the gangs of marauders who will be roaming around after said bombs are detonated.

Had a story on TV here in alabama about the same thing on last nights news report. I’ve had several people in the office ask about what type of guns I’m buying and what type they should buy. I share my advice on those who want to buy and tell them my family isn’t buying anything. We ‘shoppped early’.

Currently I own a Remington 870 and a Glock 23; I'm looking for a rifle to add to my small collection. Any recommendations - acquaintances are telling me to look at the AR15, AK47 variety.

The AR and AK pattern rifles are some of the most useful weapons for self defense in the world.

Of course, this is why they are always the first to get banned. Get one of each, plus 10 to 20 good reliable magazines for each. You will also want 10-20 magazines for your Glock. The reason behind so many magazines is that magazines will eventually wear out with use (or, depending on design and who you ask, just storage); you will then need to have replacement parts or entire replacement mags on hand as no more may be forthcoming. Then start stocking up on ammo like there’s no tomorrow. Careful shopping at your local Walmart will yield decent usable ammo at very low prices.

A reminder that the Bill of Rights does not create any rights; the rights themselves pre-existed. I believe that they are God-given. The Bill of rights recognizes their pre-existence,and tells government, “Hands off!”

The best way to keep these rights safeguarded is the use and practice of them.

The Tenth Amendment pronounces certain rights pre-existing to the states. Because the several states of the union have no actively insisted on these rights, the Tenth Amendment means little or nothing today.

If I had no interest at all in arms (guns!) themselves (I mean, if I didn't consider them fun, or sporting, or interesting to study, or necessary to my immediate security), I would still own some, for the basic purpose of exercising my rights. Like voting.

A rule I believe to be reasonable is to possess at least one for each member of my household, regardless of their age. For example, a household of six would do well to possess at least six firearms. This is just principle.

The buying out of weapons since the election should put government on notice that Americans still insist upon preserving the rights, and the practice and exercise of the rights. Obviously it will anger those in government who don't believe we have a preexisting right, and it will motivate them to work harder in an attempt to strip us of the right.

Buy all you can buy, and learn how to use them effectively. Buy ammo, and buy re-loading equipment and supplies. I pray that the demand will keep increasing. Gun sales is an excellent opinion poll.

Oh, yeah, after that you will want a bolt-action rifle in .308 with a decent scope on top. This should be the last item on your list as it is low down on the banners’ priority list.

I’d say it’s about middle of the list. It’d be higher but for all the Fudds whose deer rifles are in .308.

I’m not sure what good buying guns now will do. You are automatically entered into the database and that database will serve the govt well when they want to “have a chat with you” about those guns.

If this is your concern, buy used. Rifles don't have to go through a NICS check. I'll bet there are a lot of used pistols that don't go through NICS check either.

Just as important as scooping up the latest evil looking, black, plastic rifle is being a member of the NRA. The NRA is the only national firearms organization that is out there everyday fighting for our second amendment rights. They get results. The other groups (GOA, Second Amendment Sisters etc..) follow in the NRA’s footsteps.
