Ghetto is bred into to him from the slumming his mother did and from the social attitudes of his wife and his ghetto mentality. He’s a sponge and will absorb anything.
I don’t think it’s bred into him, but what he did was adopt it in his constant quest for self-definition. As Sarah Palin said about him at one point, “the Presidency is not a voyage of self discovery...”
I thought it was very weird that his accent - originally a neutral West Coast accent - kept getting “blacker” and more “inner city” in the course of the campaign. This is from a guy who has never lived in the inner city except as a community organizer, went to private schools, spent most of his childhood outside of the US, etc. A true MBB (’Merican Black Boy), as a black friend of mine used to call himself, right? No, not at all. Obama shares nothing but a slight suntan with black Anericans.
