Plans are being made to promote a national holiday for Barack Obama, who will become the nation's 44th president when he takes the oath of office Jan. 20.
"Yes We Can" planning rallies will be at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the downtown McDonald's restaurant, 1100 Kansas Ave., until Jan. 13. The goals are to secure a national holiday in Obama's honor, to organize celebrations around his inauguration and to celebrate the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12 1809.
At 7:30 a.m. on Inauguration Day, Obama Cake will be served at the downtown McDonald's, and a celebration is scheduled for 8 p.m. to midnight Jan. 20 at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center, 420 S.E. 6th.

We have enough holidays as it is. This isn’t Europe. Hopefully the Obama would deny such a request or he will never hear the end of the Emperor and Chicago gangster jokes from us at least. A coin???? Is this some private coin thing or something officially from the USA mint? People the O camp should be scared of are those cultlike people who gorge on Kool Aide and have nothing to do now the election is over. That’s too weird.
The story is so unclear ... they’re not looking at an annual BO day but to make BO’s inauguration a national holiday?
We live near DC, so Inauguration Day is always a holiday, no matter who’s inaugurated. The crowds and security hoopla make conducting business out of the question. I’ve attended only one, President Bush’s first, and would never go to another!
I wish it would, but I really doubt it- the "wake up" time is long past.
I really wonder if, when the jackboot punches in their faces ( it always does, just read history ) they'll still swear "It's Boosh's Fault!"

A space heater, decent male to female ratio .... but you forgot a few more things. They have hunting, fresh water, mountains, and space to get away from it all.
More importantly; they're like 5,000 miles from the capital of the DC empire.
