More top McCain-Palin aides come out supporting her.
Politico ^ | 11/7/08 | Jonathon Martin

... The Republicans who worked most closely with Palin — the ones who were with her from when she first walked into that swooning Ohio basketball arena in August until she walked off the stage after McCain’s concession speech in Phoenix Tuesday — are now having their say in that conversation.

And they want it known that they’re sick of Sarah Palin being dragged through the mud.

McCain and the Republican party should officially tell them to quit. I think it is a potential Achilles heel for the Democratic party that needs to be exploited to our advantage. But if McCain and the Republican chair do nothing, it looks bad for all women.

He’s probably holding meetings with Democrat leadership pledging his maveric support for there big government programs, especially those that directly violate the constitution.

Why should I believe otherwise.

McCain has no soul. He is another heartless SOB who is pissed he didnt win and is now sending his minions to find a scape-goat.
God Bless Sarah Palin. Maybe this fire of ingratitude will make her even stronger and come back even harder .

McCains is looking worse every day he remains quiet.

I suspect that he's holding his fire, waiting for the dust to settle. He selected her, if he agrees with her critics, he selected badly. If he disagrees with them, as I suspect he does, his response should be sharp and definitive.

I think, right now he thinks his stock is low and she would better served by his refraining from appearing defensive. I agree there are arguments on either side, but I'll hold my judgment of McCain to see how events play out.

“I thought she was an exceptional political person, but more than that an exceptional person,” Green said. “She’s in line with conservative principles and is an everyday Republican — what we’re going to have to find more if we’re going to get back to being a majority party.”

I'd like to see this pasted to the top of the forum! Conservative principles and everyday Republican....we're going to have to find more of them.

“Piper is running in 2048!”

On my gosh, you are probably right! That little girl is really a chip off the old block.

I got such a kick out of her at the convention, esp. when it was she who jumped right up when her mom mentioned her children, and gestured for the older ones to stand up too.

I never saw anything like it. She seemed to be completely in her element in the spotlight.

I said to hubby, I’m not sure what will happen with Sarah Palin, but we will definately be seeing Piper in the future!

Did anyone catch THIS part of the article...?

“I’m appalled by it because Sarah Palin was one of nicest people I have ever had the chance to work with,” says Biegun, a former Bush NSC aide. “I’ve worked in Washington for 20 years, on the Hill, in the White House and in the private sector, and she ranks at the highest levels of decency, kindness and graciousness of anybody I’ve ever worked with.”

Biegun said Palin’s generous spirit was on clear display the final weekend of the campaign, after she was subjected to a prank call by a pair of French Canadian radio DJs imitating French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

“I approved the call and was in abject horror of what I had done,” he recounted. “But she said, ‘Look, it’s not about whose fault this is, don’t beat yourself up, let’s just move on.’"

“He could have won with Wright and should have won.”

Nope, you can look at the calendar when McCain lost. When Lehman Bros. went down, so did McCain.

He never recovered and in fact his going to Wasington dance routine and then merely signing on board with the $700 corporate giveaway merely stamped it.

He has a chance to push an alternative that was being propsosed/worked on in Congress. He choose not to and paid for it.

For some reason folks keep running away from the obvious.

McCain was true to form in supporting the dem giveaway rather than a conservative approach. He never morphed into a conservative, we supported him because of Palin.

As for the questions raised in recent days about her basic level of competence on policy issues, Biegun conceded that Palin couldn’t compare to Joe Biden’s 35 years of experience.

But, he said, they shouldn’t have tried to even bother.

“We kept falling into a resume matching contest,” Biegun lamented.

WTF?????

McCain always sucked as a Candidate. The Media brought Palin down a couple percentage point and that combined with McCain as sucking just wasn't going to cut it. Even if the Media hadn't bashed Palin like they did I don't think McCain would have won though she brought him ever so close. McCain acted at times like he didn't want to win. He ran his campaign like a wimped out old fool. No spunk and the only thing he ever said was “my friends”. The Rats and Drive-by Media were never his friends but McCain is too stupid to realize it.

McCain's probably in 'Cut your losses mode', thinking, "Gee, I still have my senate seat, don't want to lose or tick off my friends on the left or their media pit bulls, so I've got to lay low for awhile. I'm not throwing Sarah under the bus. She'll survive, and she'll understand. It's just the unfortunate nature of politics - CYA. Yeah, that's the ticket, CYA! Yeah, yeah, I'm right. I know I'm right. I've got to be right." (walking around now like Yosemite Sam)

Good grief, Lord, deliver us from RINOs first. We know how to fight liberals. But RINOs? Not a chance!

If this election had been McCain/Romney, or McCain/Pawlenty, or McCain/Lieberman, or McCain/Ridge, Republicans would have had NO chance of even holding the Dems under 60 seats in the Senate.

The KY and MS seats would’ve been lost as well. There was only one person in this campaign able to speak past the media straight to the people.

I can hear the conversation in AZ when McCain asked Palin to run with him, “Gov. Palin, my campaign is a wondering albatross, with no concrete platform except “The Surge Worked!!” and “I’m a Maverick.” Can you help me pull this thing out of the shitter?”

Palin: “I’ll give it my best shot. What are we going to run on? What’s our agenda?”

McCain: “I’m a Maverick. When it comes down to crunch time, and bold decisions need to be made, the American people can count on me to cut a deal with the Democrats, and leave those dastardly conservatives hanging.”

Palin: “But Senator, I consider myself a conservative.”

McCain: “Not now you’re not, here’s your script for the next two months, and my minions will be following you around for the next two months to make sure you stick to it. And by the way, don’t have any ideas about thinking for yourself. Its my way or the highway.”

In spite of all this, Palin energizes the nation and gives McCain a lead in the polls. Then the financial crisis hits, and McCain’s first response is “The economy is fundamentally strong.” I would assert that this line lost him the election because is sounds just like some bullshit that Andy Card would feed George Bush to say.

So dummy leaves Sarah Palin to get blindsided by this remark, she does her best to cover for him with the opaque explanation that McCain meant workers are strong or somesuch.

Then, a couple days later, the campaign issues a press release announcing they are leaving Michigan. Once again, no one tells Palin and she gets caught off guard. She says she wants to go there an fight for Michigan. Regardless, you can tell at this point that McCain people are in no way shape or form communicating with Palin. It looks like, and is poor leadership.

This election came down to leadership. Senators don’t win presidential elections because they lack leadership credentials or that mentality. Obama spent his entire time as a senator running for president. He picked skilled people to run his campaign and executed an effective one. He had a strategy. He also had the tactics to execute that strategy.

McCain had nothing but tactics. He had from March to November to develop a platform of action and articulate it. Instead, he just drifted from news item to news item arguing tactics. Rush put it best when he said we were going to have to “drag the campaign over the finish line.” Even the “Joe the Plumber” episode displayed this further. Although they did a good job of explaining Obama’s “wealth re-distribution” philosophy, McCain let Obama get away with stating that only the rich would get taxed and have their wealth re-distributed. Obama still won this class warfare argument because McCain couldn’t communicate how this will destroy jobs and the middle class.

Had McCain developed and presented a succinct platform that people could say “A vote for McCain is a vote for this..” he would’ve won. But he couldn’t because he is a tactician, not a strategist. Tacticians do well in low and mid level management, but not running for president.

Disappointed in McCain is putting it mildly. I have always had a lot of resepct for him, thru the years I lived in
Arizona, right up until his silence in allowing this to continue.
He ran one of the worst campaigns I have ever seen from the getgo, the only possible exception being the Dole campaign. He should have canned these guys at the first sign of resistance to putting Palin on the ticket, and got someone who was intent on trying to win. The whole thing seemed to be run by Dems working for his defeat.
