6 years before I was born. I attended the inaugural year of the first school named for him in Nashville (during that fad when they were trying to name everything in Black neighborhoods after him, usually streets).

WE have to make sure they stick to this. Do not allow any whining by anyone in your vicinity about racism. It’s over. RACISM! DEAD!

LIke I said, my right big toe is Cherokee, so how can I be a Euro American??? When affirmative action is over, I will believe that people will stop looking at race at least to blacks and whites. But there will still be diehards who will want reparations and punish all euro Americans for tacky behavior the Brits, French and Spanish did hundreds of years ago. And then you have La Raza who can’t tell the difference between lawful immigration and illegal aliens and wants to blur the lines and melt Mexico (Azteca or whatever it is called in their minds went up through Canada) and the USA together. And South of the border, black people do not fare as well (except perhaps Brazil). Asians have blended in very well though. One thing the USA had going for it until the illegal aliens collasped the country was that we were all American and not Balkanized. I don’t know if it can be reversed or not to just plain old American.

I agree, but if you put yourself in social circles where people are hardworking and goal-oriented, I find you really don’t come across much of the whining. More often, I see white people who are overly concerned about perceived racism. I don’t go anywhere where I might run into people with the attitude of “It’s because I’m black, isn’t it?” - And for anyone wondering, I’m not talking about staying in white circles. I have many black friends as a musician, jazz music fan, and graphic designer. I don’t talk about race unless they do first and explain that MLK is one of my heroes and why. (and he is, along with Gandhi) I believe in the virtue of freedom.

MLK, like most blacks who were able to vote, supported the Party of Lincoln early in his life. He was a Democrat from 1960 on, when he threw his support to Kennedy over Nixon. That caused a spat between MLK Sr. and Jr.

Black voters were pretty monolithically Republican until after World War II. Truman’s emphasis on civil rights, including the desegregation of the military, began the swing to the Democrats. JFK gained more black support, though he gave little more than lip service to civil rights early on; LBJ cemented the black vote in 1964 and 1965.

Just an addendum...

tonight I saw a big black momma wearing a great t shirt:

“THERE’S A BLACK MAN RUNNING...

... AND IT ISN’T FROM THE POLICE!”

Great shirt. Things are shifting socially because of Obama. I have to say, it is a good thing.

They want to transcend race, but voted merely because of race. Ooookay.

Maybe this will go a long way to absolve America of its collective original sin... In that I say Obama rendered a great service to our nation, much the same as JFK’s election said to Catholics “we finally made it.”

Sad thing this voter doesn’t see it was essentially him plus the diversity race-baiters that kept the whole thing going. It’s always about race but it’s been the blacks who are the ones saying it.
If this guy is right then affirmative action and every diversity/minority favoritism program should end today.
I don’t see that happening.

So by this I would think the struggle is over? If it is thank god, now we can move on to the next disenfranchised group.

Then we should drop the name African American. It should be on no more forms, college enrollments, census or anything else. All forms should read “citizen” or “not citizen”. All Museums should drop any reference to race, like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Blues was created by American.

In 4 years the ghetto will still be the ghetto and the majority blacks that reside in the ghetto will be upset that they didn't get their 40 acres and a mule then will start referring to Obama as an Uncle Tom.

For many Blacks it will be a positive thing. For others, it will be seen as an occasion for payback and rising expectations (remember Obama's menacing talk about aborting the Constitution to secure "economic justice?" For many Blacks that means reparations--cash on the barrelhead).

If those expectations are not met quickly, there will be trouble. With recession on the way and economic stress, many Blacks will be losing their jobs (just like many Whites). The gloss of the Obama victory will evaporate in short order. Then we will see.

I don’t buy it. The only reason this man is saying this is because obama won.

I will never forget this campaign. I was called a racist if I did vote for the one. Nothing has changed in that regard.

Black americans 95% of them voted for obama because he is black. If he had lost, this man would have said it was because of race.

The fact that McCain lost hurts me for sure, but, what has hurt me most is that my fellow black americans voted for obama for the color of his skin only.

I am starting to look at blacks and wanting to ask them why? Like everyone else, I wanted to live to see the first black american elected president. But this man is not worthy of the office not because he is black, its because he is the enemy of the constitution and american traditions.

Seriously, I don’t know how this man can take the oath with a straight face swearing to uphold the constitution when he in fact plans to rip it apart along with his fellow leftist.

I found this article on Alveda. Seeing Sonograms led her to be pro-life.

Seems it was a long time ago when she was in office and must of been a dem at the time. The first black Republican in modern times was elected to the GA legislature in 2004. Willie Talton. There is now a second, Melvin Everson.

Hey I hear you. All this talk about a color blind society and I realize that to liberal blacks (not the conservatives - they get it) it’s just a one way street.

I just want to see people as people, but I guess we’re not there yet. Of course the liberals never will be or it will ruin their racket.

I think the race industry will have something to say about this.

What about the tens of thousands of workers whose jobs depend on race?

College admissions.
Government contracting
Diversity departments

No, the left will continue to treat people differently based on shared characteristics to a group.
