Palin denounces anonymous critics as 'cowardly'

Gov. Sarah Palin denounced anonymous criticisms leveled at her by former John McCain aides as lies, including allegations that Republican lawyers were traveling to Alaska to reclaim her high-priced wardrobe and that she didn't know Africa was a continent. "Those accounts are not true," the former Republican vice presidential candidate said in her first public comments on the matter since the election Tuesday.

Palin returned Friday to her Anchorage governor's office and said she had no immediate plans to build on her newfound national name-recognition and popularity with the Republican base for a possible 2012 presidential run.

Instead, Palin said, she wanted only to get back to the governor's desk to advance a proposed pipeline tapping Alaska's vast North Slope natural gas reserves and to prepare Alaska's proposed 2010 budget.

As for the vice presidential campaign, Palin denounced criticism from unidentified McCain campaign aides as "cowardly." She said she found it frustrating trying to respond to false allegations when she didn't know who was making them.

"It's ridiculous," she told reporters. "You guys report based on anonymous sources, so it's hard to have a defense."

And still the man who writes about “honor” is silent. This episode speaks volumes about the character of John McCain.

Yes, and it's a disgrace what passes for "Republican" these days considering that some McCain aid is heaving on a good and decent woman like this.

If she had Alaska secede I think I would move up there. As dark as it gets it would be a heck of a lot brighter than what the future holds here.

The McCain campaign manager (name escapes me) was on H & C last night and denied all these allegations.

He was not very forceful although he claimed he wished he knew who was leaking this info.

WELL we all know ONE person who knows who the leaker(s) is/are and that Cameron.

Does anyone think for one minute, this slime bucket will tell? Not on your life!!!

While these bottom-feeding scumbags are always looking for and encouraging others to "leak" they themselves will never engage in same even in cases like this where there is a concentrated effort to destroy another through innuendo and character assassination.

Disgusting!!!

PS Never mind the campaign manager, WHERE oh WHERE is Jorge and why has he not stepped up to the plate and denounced this as well as defend Sarah.

I've lost what little respect I had for him.

John McCain was swift to defend Barack Obama. Remember?

He is shaming himself by not defending Sarah.

It would be so typical if these anonymous sources turns out to be an adolescent kid who punk’d Carl Cameron posing as a campaign staffer.
