I guess I can't be too surprised at the reactions here. I was one of the few arguing that the nannie govt shouldn't be deciding who gets to call you or not. The economy shrinks when the govt gets to decide which information reaches you and which does not. At the time I suggested the phone companies could offer do-not-call as an benefit the same way some banks offer free ATM's (in network or out).
But again I was shot down, the govt must regulate ATM fees as well. So much for conservatism.

Stopping property crimes is one of the few legitimate functions of government. It is perfectly appropriate for the state, at my request, to prevent strangers from trespassing on my phone.
