Barack Obama made history today in Nebraska.

Barack Obama The Democratic presidential candidate claimed an electoral vote in the Omaha-based 2nd Congressional District the first time in more than four decades a Democrat won any of Nebraskas electoral votes.
The Omaha World-Herald is calling the race after Obama won 8,434 out of 15,039 early votes that arrived too late to be included in Tuesdays results. They were counted today by Douglas County election officials.
Those ballots give Obama a 1,260-vote lead over Republican John McCain in the 2nd District.
It also added one more electoral vote to Obamas win over McCain in Tuesdays election. The electoral count now stands: Obama, 365, McCain, 162.
Only Missouris 11 electoral votes remain up in the air.
"We always knew we could do it, but it would be an uphill climb. Its great to see a little corner of Nebraska turn blue," said John Berge, state director for Obamas campaign. He said the win was a testament to all the work done by Obama staffers and volunteers.
Nebraska was one of the last states whose presidential race was in question after Tuesdays election. The other state left to be called is Missouri.
Obama won only one of Nebraskas five electoral votes. The other four went to McCain.
This is the first time since 1964 that a Nebraska electoral vote has gone to a Democrat. The state has been reliably Republican since Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson in his landslide victory over Barry Goldwater.
Obama aggressively ignored Nebraskas red hue this year, as he sent 16 paid staffers and opened three offices in Omaha. It was part of his strategy to expand the electoral map, and to fight for votes in traditional GOP strongholds.
A 1991 state law allowed Obama to concentrate his efforts on the Omaha metropolitan area, where Democrats outnumber Republicans.
Nebraska and Maine are the only two states in the nation that split its electoral votes based on congressional district. All the other states award their electoral votes on a winner-take-all system.
Nebraska is the first of the two to split its electoral votes.
For quality control purposes, a “do over” ought to be enacted.
Let’s everyone vote one more time, just to be sure. Bounce the totals off the last election. Remember, voting is a “process” - “residents” now have “early” voting, “absentee” voting, mail-in ballots, voting in person on election day proper. Why stop there? Hm.
I expect it to get worse. Someone is going to find eight thousand net votes for Obama in a duffle bag hidden in someone's basement closet, and he will end up winning MO as well.
Actually, there is a good lesson here. Actually, two lessons. First lesson: you need a strong ground game. Obama had hundreds of millions of dollars to spend on one, and he did. McCain did not (and could not properly afford one). Which leads me to the second lesson: next time, don't accept public financing of a national Presidential campaign.
Just signed on to the Missouri Secretary of State's office a couple of minutes ago.It lists McLame as being ahead by about 6000 votes. It didn't specify when the numbers were last updated but it did say that all precincts had reported.I know that doesn't necessarily means that all the *votes* were counted,but.....
Electoral-vote.com is a notorious RAT site that has a poor accuracy record. For now,I'm believing the Missouri SoS office.
Bush received more votes and won a greater percentage of the votes in winning AZ in 2004 than McCain did in 2008. McCain was the only top tier candidate of either party who didn't win his home state in the primaries by 50% or more. And you blame the states? Give me a break. McCain was the worst candidate we could have nominated.
You should have seen Oprah today.
It was just like Jesus Christ super star the musical, except with “The One” walking on water.
It’s beyond belief the Messiah worship going on in the media.
This was a long planned rigged election and hostile take over of America.
Next to fall, our constitution. I hope there is a military general ready to do what needs to be done when Obama deliberately fails to uphold his oath of office.
otherwise, America is no more.
1984 it is. By the end of the year they will be showing maps of Obama winning all the states by a 90% landslide. The One will have to be “remembered” that way, the way Lenine made everyone buy the lie that he headed the Russian Revolution.
Yep, and we only voted for him because of Palin. And now they are crapping all over her when she is the only reason mc Cain didn’t concede a month ago.
McCain had no choice. The maverick had real problems raising money. It was only after the selection of Palin that contributions started to increase. And the McCain campaign siphoned off funds from the RNC that could have been better spent supporting Reps down ballot. McCain was a disaster for the GOP.
The world is changing, and not for the better.
We must adapt—get our message out better, and pray for our nation.
Obviously, if he changes the Constitution, today’s Army did not take oath to that when soldiers signed for service. It’s probably why he wants to raise is own SS Nazi O “force” as National Defense Security blabla.
Reminds me of Buzz in Lewis Sinclaire’s “It can’t happen here”.
All the “journalists” read off the same page. Rush played quotes from about six of them, who all said Emanuel had “sharp elbows”.
Couldn’t agree more. In Ohio, the McCain turnout was 400,000 less than Bush and Obama had 80,000 less than Kerry. Elections are all about turnout. McCain couldn’t energize the base, which is expected when you have the party maverick bashing the party and espousing unpopular positions among Reps like amnesty and a cap and trade system to address the global warming hoax. And I can predict with complete certainty that McCain will be working with the Obama WH to get both passed.
What is our message? According to McCain it is amnesty [McCain-Kennedy], a cap and trade system to address global warming [McCain-Lieberman], no drilling in ANWR, more federal funding for embryonic stem cell research, and limits on political free speech [McCain-Feingold]. And that is just for starters.
Thanks Nebraska, Indiana, Ohio, Florida, NC, CO and VA for dumping your America roots and growing new socialist weeds in the yard. You just make us all so proud of you, now that you see the Obamanation light. /heavy dose of sarcasm applies
Dont blame the people in those states
Running a pro-illegal/anti-American open borders liberal RINO...who later throws his running mate (the only reason this election isnt uglier) under his bus...is not the way to beat a Socialist
These states would have voted GOP had a real conservative ran as President

Thats the recipe for disaster. And, cost winnable states...running the liberal McCain and not being able to challenge Obama on his liberal positions
Merely taking the Illegal Alien issue off the table was a sure loser...and Hispanics didnt warm to McCain’s pro-illegal alien program...losing Hispanics 2-1
I’m bummed!
Not going to disagree with the bulk of your comments, but I thought McCain was against “embryonic” stem cell research, and pro adult stem cell research? There is a huge difference, and anyone with any intellectual honesty will admit that embryonic stem cell research has produced nothing but frankensteinish cancer cells.
Merely taking the Illegal Alien issue off the table was a sure loser...and Hispanics didnt warm to McCains pro-illegal alien program...losing Hispanics 2-1
Just to make it clear, Hispanics of Cuban origin didn't buy into Obama, Hispanics of Mexican origin did. They have no interest in adopting our culture, they want our welfare check, free healthcare, etc, and blow their nose with our constitution and laws, so of course they're a perfect fit for DemonRATs.
I suspect "early votes" was a poor word choice, and "absentee ballots" or "mail in ballots" may have been better. I don't have an opinion on whether or not vote fraud was widespread in Nebraska.
